So we make the natural and logical sonic transition, as one does, from Cheap Trick to…Ludwig van Beethoven, born on this date in 1770. You turn 250 only once, but the trick is to be remembered for eternity. Certainly this immortal qualifies.
Everyone is big on the Fifth and the Ninth, but the Sixth (‘Pastoral’) is easily the bridge between the Classical and the Romantic periods in orchestral music. To our mind, in terms of composers, Beethoven is unbeatable for sheer variety of themes and musical ideas. Ludwig v. Beethoven #1 always!
