Merry Derby! Has it already been thirty years since this one? Mrs. Genter, Mr. Nafzger and, of course, the most selective rider of all time, Mr. Craig Perret. Unbridled…UNBRIDLED!
This was a good one. There were rows of chairs on the second-floor clubhouse at old Frantic City, folded broadsheet Daily Racing Forms surplus to requirements draped over the backs of the chairs, serving as seat-savers. You could hear the hum and click of the giant electric toteboard overhead. The live racing was taking place at Garden State, but we we preferred going to Frantic City for the simulcast. Good win mutuel, overlaid for sure, though the payoff might have been a little lower in the New Jersey intertrack-wagering pools.
Yesterday:
Churchill 1
#4 Saintsation ($28.60, BestLine Fair Odds 7.00-1)
Monmouth 8
#2 Suz ($20.60, BestLine Fair Odds 2.91-1)
Remington 1
#3 Holy Creed ($34.20, BestLine Fair Odds 4.71-1)
There were two selected races yesterday. There were five win-overlay wagers, and there was nothing good to report.
