Physical or even verbal endangerment of some other living creature rarely ends up well. If meting-out such endangerment is prolonged or chronic, it takes on a dark life of its own, becomes the driving psychic energy of the punisher, curdles-up the soul or, as Satchel used to say about fried meats, it ‘angries-up the blood’. Thank you, Satchel. If we choose to look back, it should only be to see that we’ve come some distance forward, and made progress.
