Dark day for the NBC Television Network now. Three 1980s-era series are being rebooted, and ALF is not one of them. What’s an alien got to do? Can I get a witness!
On the other hoof, Punky Brewster is getting a second chance, even though many other potentially good and better series never get even one chance. Punky Brewster was greenlit back in the day by the legendary NBC executive Brandon Tartikoff, who attended The Lawrenceville School, a residential secondary school in Lawrenceville, N.J. While there, Tartikoff was a resident of Griswold House, and its faculty Housemaster had a daughter named Peyton, a k a ‘Punky’. Tartikoff had a crush on her, never forgot about her, even after all those years, and then immortalized her by creating a situation comedy loosely based on her. Now you know.
On the third hoof, we’re not sure if ALF was inspired by one of his slob roommates over there in Griswold at Lawrenceville. Could be!
On the fourth hoof, we won’t be watching the new Punky, nor the new Saved by the Bell (?!) or Battleship Galaxian, or however it’s called. Thank you!
N.B. Forget about investigating ex-Presidents and their deals with streaming TV services! Instead, please investigate how these three shows are being rebooted, yeah? Well, as long as they don’t reboot The Apprentice Jockey in 2025.
