Back when we were One of The World’s Great Eaters, we could polish off an entire Diamond Jim Brady Cut, bloody rare, in one sitting, no hesitation, no struggle, toward the end taking with our two hands what was left of the rib and gnawing at it like some rabid woodland creature and still have room for the English Trifle for dessert. Those days are over! Yet they actually have a new, even bigger cut called the Beef Bowl, which is the brontosaurus-size cut they serve to the Rose Bowl players a couple of nights before the big game. If only we were a younger man…
