The best 5-minute video you’ll see this weekend. Yup, it’s been 25 years. As well, this video provides a giant clue toward understanding the ethos that continues to compel us — and many other art-damaged Generation Xers — to this day. Thank you, Pavement! If you can understand them, you’ll never be a chalk-eater. Never. You’ll also be immune to the frothy ravings of wannabe strongmen. Really!
We remember having a trip back to the East Coast in 1994 in time for the Derby. That was Go For Gin’s year, gate-to-wire in the slop. We were cruising around the Mississippi part of New Jersey with the album blaring out of the car. It holds up well.
Also, scrub on over to the 1:03 mark of the video. When’s the last time you saw the bass player for a rock-’n’-roll band wearing a collared shirt from the Brooks Bros., with the Golden Fleece logo embroidered on it? Never!
