The Gaffer is all smiles

Lots going on today, such as: Vince Cullie, he is gone. Also, Jehovah, Allah, Buddha and all the other chief gods take a moment from their divine duties now to bow to their colleague Yahweh (a k a G-d) to wish Him and all His elect a Happy New Year. Plus, you can never get away from Don Trump Sr., Slick Hillie (or should that be ‘Sick Hillie’, given the many theories being floated by the jittery, twitching folks at whitebarf.com?) and The Aleppo Apprentice on Amurrikan Survivor: The Amazing Race to The Weakest Link — hoo-boy. Yet despite all these fantastical goings-on, the lede as always falls to the Arse F.C., this time owing to their miraculous stoppage-time winner this morning (PDT) against hard-done-by Burnley. Talk about getting pipped at the winning post!

Yesterday’s Activity:

Track (Win Mutuels $20+/Gettable)

Belmont (1/1) — Race 6 was not contentious, but High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads were keen on Dual Qualifier Ectot (96, 97), who went gate-to-wire to win by 5 at $20.80. Good work.

Belterra (0/0) — Host Reds beat Cubs, 7-4; Joey Votto and Eugenio Suarez each had 3 RBI.

Churchill (2/0) — Louisville falls at Clemson, 42-36; Lamar Jackson rushed for 162 yds. in the loss.

Chas. Town (1/1) — Race 8 was not contentious, but High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads were forgiving of Shenandoah, who qualified for consideration via an absolute-minimum 80 on the LifeLiner Speed Column analysis; he rallied like the champion he should have been, winning by half a length at $24.20. Good work.

Delpark (0/0) — Jolly Trolley crashes outside Rehoboth.

Finger (2/0) — 19-year-old found stabbed during fight at V-Pub in Canandaigua.

Gulf (2/0) — Marlins edged by host Wash., D.C., 2-1; Chris Johnson had Miami’s RBI.

Hazel (2/1) — Race 3 was contentious, and Trad Jazz was appealing to High-Octane Chancers and Progressive-Minded Eggheads but not to Old-School Champeens; Trad Jazz was top of the LifeLiner Spread Column analysis but nowhere near top of the Betting Line, and she went tail-to-wire to win by 1¼ at $67.60. Good work.

Hastings (0/0) — Aerial dining comes to Vancouver.

Indiana (2/2) — Race 4 was not contentious, but Dual Qualifier American Moose (80, 85) laughed at the conventional-style calculations, racing tail-to-wire to win by $44.40. Race 6 was the same way, not contentious, and Zoey D just squeaked by via an 81 on the LifeLiner Spread Column analysis; she was a stalking-horse throughout before winning by a clean neck at $40.60. Good work.

Los Alamitos (0/0) — Host Angels blanked by Houston, 3-nil; Kole Calhoun and C.J. Cron had extra-base hits for Anaheim.

Lethbridge (0/0) — Royal Family bids Canada a friendly farewell.

Laurel (1/0) — Orioles fall at Nueva Jork Jankees, 7-3; Michael Bourn, still in the league, went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI for Balto.

Mountaineer (1/1) — Race 4 at a firster up top, Bootscutenboge, whose connection-line/slashline readout was 15pc/12pc/11pc; he raced forwardly to win by half a length at $20.60. Good work.

Northlands (0/0) — Northeast leg of Anthony Henday Drive officially complete.

PennNat (0/0) — Fightin’ Phils defeated by visitor Metropolitans, 5-3; Ryan Howard, in his penultimate game for Philalala, hit his 25th HR of the season, and it was a solo shot.

Keystone (1/1) — Race 3 was not contentious, but Brother Bobo had a good-enough 87 on the LifeLiner Spread Column analysis; he went gate-to-wire to win by 3 at $25.40. Good work.

Pleasanton (0/0) — Giants blank visiting Los Doyers, 3-nil; Ty Blach pitched 3-hit ball over 8 IP for San Francisco.

Retama (0/0) — Pre-K 4 SA deemed a success.

Remington (2/0) — Oklahoma edges host TCU, 52-46; Dede Westbrook had 7 catches for 158 yds. for the Sooners.

Santa Anita (2/0) — See Pleasanton commentary.

Thistle (0/0) — Indians double-up on host K.C., 6-3; Francisco Lindor had 2 RBI for Cleveland.

Woodbine (2/1) — Dual Qualifier Seffeara (88, 88) had no Fair Odds on the Betting Line in a contentious Race 4, but he rallied anyway like the champion he should have been, winning by a clean nose at $25.20. Good work.

Zia (0/0) — Man’s anger lands him behind bars in Hobbs.
