Good to the last stop!
Martin Stones — erm, Jones, that is — keeps his Sharks alive last night. Good work.
Free ones: Rundown…
Thistle 4, 5
Santa Anita 6
Pay-side (Weekend/Weekday): Today…
Arlington 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8
Belterra 2, 3, 4, 7, 8
Churchill 7, 8
Golden Gate 4, 6, 8
Lone Star 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Monmouth 7, 8, 9
Pimlico 1, 6, 7, 8
Woodbine 3, 4, 5, 6, 9
Today’s Stakes Pageantry: Sorry, but it looks like a showdown between the two remaining morning-line choices in Prairie 8.
Yesterday’s Activity:
Track (Win Mutuels $20+/Gettable)
Belmont (0/0) — Jankees double-up visiting Los Anaheim, 6-3; Carlos Beltran, still in the league, had a 2 RBI for New York, as did Alex Rodriguez, also still in the league.
Belterra (0/0) — Host Reds lose to St. Louis, 3-2; Jay Bruce and Adam Duvall drove in the runs for Cincy.
Canterbury (1/0) — Twins get trounced by visiting Miami, 10-3; Robbie Grossman had 2 RBI for Minnesota.
Churchill (3/2) — Publicly touted Rhodium took what turned out to be — after raceday scratches — a noncontentious Race 4 at $25.60; Rhodium had a strong 89 on the LifeLiner Spread Column analysis and went gate-to-wire to win by a clean nose. In Race 8, Black Butterfly also was in a noncontentious lineup, but the Ali-inspired runner was indeed a Dual Qualifier (87, 93); she went gate-to-wire to win by 3 parts of a length at $42.80. Good work.
Chas. Town (0/0) — Martinsburg City Council approves amendment allowing Sunday liquor sales.
Delpark (0/0) — Delaware City refinery flagged for 26 violations.
Evangeline (1/1) — More results now for the High-Octane Chancers of the world. Classy and Rich had a fine 88 on the LifeLiner Speed Column analysis in Race 7, which was not contentious. She won by 2¼ at $29.40. Good work.
Finger (2/1) — Again not contentious, Race 4, but Birkenhead had a field-best 91 in the LifeLiner Spread Column analysis for the High-Octane Chancers in the crowd. Birkenhead went gate-to-wire to win by a clean half-length at $23.20. Good work.
Fair Meadow (1/1) — The opener, not contentious, went to Dual Qualifier Jitterbug Son (70, 70) in a desperate race amongst equally perditious maiden-claimers. He won by a clean neck at $38.80. Good work.
Golden Gate (0/0) — Sharks avert Pgh. big-league hockey coronation, get season-saving 4-2 road win; San Jose goaltender Martin Jones was the undisputed Man of the Match, turning aside 42 of 44 shots he faced.
Gulf (4/0) — See Canterbury commentary.
Louisiana (0/0) — Man allegedly stabs nephew 3 times in front of Rayne convenience store.
PennNat (1/0) — See Golden Gate commentary.
Presque (0/0) — Police charge man after finding drugs in W. Erie apartment.
Pimlico (3/2½) — Publicly touted No Delay won the opener at $65-even; the race was contentious, and ’Delay was actually a barely-there Dual Qualifier (80, 80) (!), but he won by a clean half-length anyway. In Race 7, Old-School Champeens found the lineup contentious, with Puturseatbelton at Fair Odds of 3-1, though without any LifeLiner-style backing; ’belt won anyway, by a clean neck, at $25.20. Half a get there. Then in the finale, publicly touted Iconic Artist, owner of a competitive 86 on the LifeLiner Speed Column analysis in a contentious field, rallied like the champion he could have been, prevailing a clean head at $29.40. Good work.
Prairie (2/0) — Man trying to build pork-processing plant performs life-saving CPR.
Santa Anita (2/1) — Race 5 was contentious, and 6-1 morning-line hope Jan’s Spirit, qualifying as a contender via a nice 86 on the LifeLiner Speed Column analysis, won by 1¾ at $21.60. Good work.
