This Bud’s for You

Well, Citizens of America. Here we are. Sorry, Merle Haggard, but it’s National Beer Day today, April 7, and we choose to celebrate the beverage. A toast!

Again, this is National Beer Day, not IPA Day, not Stout Day, not any of that fetishized hipster stuff. It is time to honor plain and simple beer, crisp and clean, to wash down whatever eats or chase away any thirst that will head your way today. To beer! To your health!

Free ones: Rundown…

Aqueduct 5, 6, 7, 9
Gulfstream Park Proper 3, 4, 5, 7, 8

Pay-side (Weekend/Weekday): Today…

Golden Gate 6, 7
Hawthorne 6, 7, 8
Lone Star (!) 4, 5, 6, 8
Oaklawn 3, 6, 7

Today’s Stakes Pageantry: One tonight at Lone Star, no advisories. Regrets.

Yesterday’s Stakes Pageantry:

Track (Win Mutuels $20+/Gettable)

Aqueduct (1/0) — Jankees pound visiting Houston, 16-6; Starlin Castro went 4-for-5 with 5 RBI in the win.

Chas. Town (0/0) — Two more WVU fraternities — Sigma Chi and Sigma Nu — suspended on Wednesday; on Tuesday, Delta Tau Delta was suspended.

Evangeline (2/0) — One night after losing to the Sick-Sirs (Sam Hinkie, R.I.P.), the almost-as-hapless Pelicans are defeated in Boston, 104-97; Toney Douglas led New Orleans with 19 pts.

Gulf (1/0) — Host Marlins fall again to Tigers, 7-3; Florida starter Jose Fernandez was tagged for the loss but struck out 13 in 5⅔ IP.

Mahoning (1/0) — Blue Jackets trounce host Maple Leafs, 5-1; Brandon Dubinsky scored twice for Columbus.

Oaklawn (3/2) — In Race 3, it was publicly touted Yooou Den winning it for our Hebrew brethren (Yooou Den sounds the same as ‘Juden’, right?) at $34.60. Yooou Den was a Dual Qualifier (85, 83) in a contentious race, and no High-Octane Chanciness was necessary to collect on her. In Race 5, publicly touted Relentless Dear squeaked by to contender-status via her 81 in the LifeLiner Spread Column; she paid $21.40 up top.

PennNat (0/0) — Philalala Flyers blanked at Detroit, 3-nil; Michael Raffl and Wayne Simmonds each logged 4 PIM in the loss.

Sunland (1/0) — The El Paso Electric Company reports that power has been restored to 4,700 West El Paso (Tex.) customers who suffered an outage Wednesday night.

Tampa (1/0) — Rays even record to 2-2 with 5-3 win over visiting Toronto; STEVEN Souza Jr. was 4-for-4 with 2 HR and 4 RBI in the win.

Turf Paradise (2/0) — D’backs fall to visiting Colorado, 4-3; Nick Ahmed was 2-for-4 with a homer for Arizona.

WMF Report:

Early
Chas. Town 4½f
PennNat 6f
Santa Anita 6f

Nocturnal Submission: Sifting through the wreckage…

Thank you. Best wishes. Goodbye. Drive safely.
