Famous for the always appropriate line: ‘The best lack all conviction, while the worst/Are full of passionate intensity’.

So many other good works owe their title to this poem: Things Fall Apart. Slouching Towards Bethlehem. Another good line: ‘The centre cannot hold’. Fantastic.

W.B. Yeats #1 always. The Waterboys #1 always. Bono? Who he? A poseur? Probably. U2? What’s that? Ugh.

P.S. Samuel Beckett Line of The Day: ‘I can’t go on. I’ll go on’.

Today’s Stakes Pageantry: None today, but the Blueshirt Rangers journey up I-5 to Staples Centre to take on your La La Land Kings; last night, the New Yorkers defeated the Ducks in Orange Co., 1-2. Besides the certainty of green jerseys and green beer inside the arena this evening, much public brawling and rampantly overt promiscuity are strong possibilities. Trust, but verify.

Yesterday’s Activity:

Track (Win Mutuels $20+/Gettable)

Chas. Town (0/0) — WVU Mountaineers travel to Brooklyn for first-round NCAA men’s hoopball tournament romp against Stephen F. Austin on Friday.

Gulf (1/0) — The U opens in Providence, R.I., to face Buffalo in NCAA men’s hoopball tournament first round today.

Mahoning (1/0) — The Ohio St. Univ. Buckeyes host Univ. of Fla. in the second round of the NIT men’s hoopball tournament on Sunday.

PennNat (1/0) — Flyers continue playoff surge, defeat host Blackhawks, 3-2; Philalala’s Claude Giroux was the game&rsquos; No. 1 Star.

Tampa (0/0) — Rays resume Grapefruit League schedule tooday with a trip to Clearwater to face the Phillies.

Turf Paradise (1/0) — UofA Wildcats open NCAA men’s hoopball tournament today against Wichita St. in Providence, R.I.

The WRD (1/½) — Imalittlehazey won Race 7 at $78.20, and High-Octane Chancers would have gotten all of that. How so? He was second-best on the Betting Line, Fair Odds of 4½-1. Though the race was not contentious, the connection-line readout on the first-timer Imalittlehazey was a satisfactory 10pc/15pc/15pc — good enough for the High-Octane Chancers in the room to get all of that.
