Today’s Stakes Pageantry: None today, but it’s down to the (semi-)final strokes in the Australian Lawn Tennis Tournament. The big one is obviously the Djoker-Fed matchup, a true end-times conflagration whose winner will doubtless be favored in the Final. As well, the Ladies are at their last four, with Serena (Serena’s Song — remember that Thoroughbred?) seemingly unbeatable again. We’ll see.

Mahoning (0/0) — Well, that did not hurt one bit! Races run for purse money only! Still, none of the nongambling winners was higher than 6-1 on the morning line. What are you going to do?

Portland (1/1) — Not a public tout, the nightcap winner, due to a seemingly strong top-pick on the conventional V6 Betting Line. However, Bad as Can Be did have a solid-enough 80 in the LifeLiner Speed Column, and high-octane chancers probably would have done something OK with his 11-1 odds on the toteboard. And it has to be a grim day on the calendar when only one track in North America offers wagering — grimmer still when said track is Portland Meadows!
