On any other evening, a throng of wiener-hungry citizens would be lined up. Not last night, not 45 mins. prior to sundown. Free and clear last night.

Elsewhere, Ventura Blvd. wide-open after 7 p.m. PDT, with many eateriesz devoid of patronsz. Hmmmmm.

Also, the death of Yogi Berra last night was like a sucker punch to the solar plexus. It hit hard, and it was similarly difficult to imagine anyone not sighing a little at his passing. The superstar hissie-fittersz of modern baseball might be inspired by his example, but probably not. As well, one of the Boysz in the Back Room remembers the time he got a Yogi Berra autograph without having met the man. It turns out the guy’s aunt was an R.N. at the old Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J., in the early 1970s, and Mr. Berra was there awaiting delivery of a grandchild. The R.N. had numerous nephews who were baseball fansz, and she approached Mr. Berra to see if he might be kind enough to give each of her nephews a big thrill. Of course Mr. Berra obliged, and no fewer than five of the R.N.’s nephews got his autograph. R.I.P., Yogi Berra. We’ll never see your likes again. Tyvm. We toast a Yoo-hoo to your memory.

A teddible week thus far for Arse Mgr. Arse Wenger: three losses, two of which were on the pitch and the other on the marital sitch.
