nytfriday

Dead trees, smudges, even writing implements unnecessary!

Always good to zip through a Friday joint in closer to 10 mins. than 15. Another good one in prospect for Saturday.

Sunday puzzle completely skipped, week after week. Too much of a slog, too much endurance. Better to sprint through these challenges than to get bogged down by them. Happy solving!

Free ones: Rundown…

Aqueduct 1, 2, 4, 7, 8
Gulfstream Park Proper 3, 5
Santa Anita 3, 5, 8

Pay-side (Weekend/Weekday): Today…

Fair Grounds 2, 3, 5, 8
Golden Gate 3, 5, 6, 7
Hawthorne 4
Laurel 5, 6, 7, 8
Oaklawn 3, 7, 8, 9
Sunland 7
Tampa 1, 5, 6, 8, 9
Turfway 1, 10

Today’s Stakes Pageantry: Aha! A stakes race! Morning-line fave #3 Parc Monceau looks too legit to admit defeat in Delta 10.

Yesterday’s Activity: Bonkersmate Hugsforhennyhall, $23.40, upset the finale at Golden Gate.

When you make tout a horsey (or three) in each race on the card, it’s hard not to find yourself running at least a couple over, and that’s exactly how it turned out at the Oaklawn yesterday. Even better, the roadkill represented the two highest-paying win mutuels on the afternoon. Yow.

The finale was won by Bonkersmate I’m Workin On It, longest shot in the field but a $30.80 winner nonetheless.

In the opener, sole-touted Corsa Veloce, second-to-highest on the toteboard at 38-1, ran down the field to win by three parts of a length at $79.20 up top.

Yes, when you find a toutable runner (or seven) in all nine races on the day’s programme, you’re nearly certain to run something over — hard to do otherwise. Again, the day’s roadkill at Oaklawn included the two highest-paying win-prices for your Thursday. Yow.

As always, hope you had ’em.
