Fantastical show, this 21st-century H5O reboot. Last night, Danny Williamsz nearly got a Deliverance-type roughing-up in a Colombian prison. Hoo-boy. Jimmie Buffett (!) saves the day by flying his Vietnam War-era transport helicopter into a cocaine warehouse. Co-executive producer Kennie Solarz must really be writing these episodes while inside the sensory-deprivation tank and dosing on peyote. Aloha. Be there.

On the other hoof, the original was coolly stylish, and it doesn’t get any more suave than this excellent performance by the handsome James Shigeta, whose good looks are only played up in contrast to his henchman in this one, a swarthy heavy played by none other than Nemeiah Persoff. Oahu State Prison, here we come! Don’t get caught in the shower with Big Chicken, wickedly portrayed by a lisping Gavin MacLeod. Stay away from Hotel St., too!

Free ones: Rundown…

Aqueduct 1, 2, 6, 7, 8
Gulfstream Park Proper 1, 2, 3, 4, 11
Santa Anita 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10

Pay-side (Weekend/Weekday): Today…

Fair Grounds 5, 9
Golden Gate 9
Sam Houston 2, 3, 6, 7, 10
Laurel 2, 3
Oaklawn 1, 3, 4, 7, 9
Sunland 6, 8, 10
Tampa 3, 5, 8, 9, 10
Turfway 5, 8, 9
Turf Paradise 2, 3, 5, 7, 8

Today’s Stakes Pageantry: Santa Anita 7, 8, 10 on the free page. On the pay-side it’s Fair Grounds 9, Tampa 8, 9, 10.

Three-to-five on your morning line for #5 Salutos Amigos in Aqueduct 4; might be deserved! Hoo-boy. However, Race 9 there brings the mild upsetter #5 Lieutenant Colonel.

Over to Gulfstream, and #5 Night Prowler should be OK in the ninth.

Trying for the fave-plus-mid-priced comboa (comboa!) of #1 Chitu and #8 Midnight Hawk in Santa Anita 9. In the Big ’Cap (Race 11), it looks hard to deny #5 Shared Belief. Regretsz!

#8 Sarah Sis is one of ’em Triple Threat Horseys in Oaklawn 8; for some parimutuel spice, try #3 Super Saks in tandem.

Prefer #3 Cat Sup in Delta 10.

Yesterday’s Activity: Two good ones, including your 21-1 Bonkersmate winner of Race 4 at Santa Anita and your 16-1 First Bonkersmate winner in the Turfway finale. As always, hope you had ’em.
