ZULU AS KONO! Immortal. However, did you catch last night’s show, Episode No. 100 of the rebooted version? Hoo-boy. That was fueled by testosterone!

Now, we don’t normally shill for TV of any kind, but we are sworn to allegiance to the Five-O team, regardless of decade. Last night, Kennie Solarz & the rest of the writers were pulling out all the stops, expressing their natural tendencies toward torture-porn and irony and psychological unrealism. It was like Quentin Tarantino and Christopher Nolan and the Coen Bros. all got together and jammed what they could into 42 mins. of broadcast-network TV. How young Steve McGarrett survived such a furious and relentless beating by one Mistah Wo Fat is beyond all comprehension. Of course there was a Mexican standoff toward the end, and the only thing taking away from the blood and sweat and tears was an ill-advised, estrogen-soaked flashback montage in which the Hawaiian crimebustersz were seen in their most unifying moments. That was a little treacly for what was until then such a heartstopping episode.

On the whole, though, good job to Kennie Solarz and the rest of the production team.

What’s left? Singling #1 Coco’s Wildcat in Calder 10. #7 Super Colerosa can be involved in the placings in Woodbine 6. And looking for the mild upset via #6 Skylander Girl in the eighth there. Should be safe for #4 Sara Rocks in Chas. Town 7; likewise #3 Hear the Chatter in the next there. At Thistle, #3 Pyrite Green and #2 Rookie Gladden are not out of it in the seventh.

Yesterday’s Activity: How ’bout dem Memphis Grizzliesz! OKC Thunda down to 1-5 on the season. Phillie Sixersz & L.A. Jakersz a combined 0-11. Two proud basketball cities staring at a long climb out. Clippersz only game in town; however, they are planning this FILIPINO HERITAGE NIGHT on Dec. 6, and that could very well set them back with no chance for recovery. Randy Newman to sing ‘Short People’ at halftime.
