Fifteen years ago, can you believe it? Another late-running Gulfstream Park stunner! Mark ’im up!

Remarkable that Gary L. Stevens still is a viable race-rider at the highest levels. His contemporaries Eddie D., Jerry D. Bailey, Pat ‘I’ll Wait All’ Day, Chris McCarron, Laffit Pincay Jr. all have split the scene.

And maybe we should just bet BC longshots who have that double-‘E’ in their names. There’ve been worse angles, some of which have been promoted by us right here!

Free ones: Rundown…

Aqueduct 4, 6, 9
Calder 3, 8, 10

Pay-side: Today…

Today’s Stakes Pageantry: Nine big Breeders’ Cup events for your All Saints’ Day Saturday at The Cathedral of The Little Saint Ann in Arcadia, Calif. A Holy Day of Obligation for All Good Horseplayers. Like during Christmas and Easter, it may be hard to find a pew! Pax vobiscum.

Calder 8 on the free page. Woodbine 9 on the pay-side.

Should be safe for #2 Star Harbour in Churchill 7. In Race 9 there, sidestepping the fave to prefer #3 Spring in the Air and #10 My Option.

Delta 10 has #3 Sunbean appearing too good.

Open in Indiana 8, with wild longshots #7 Hoosier Honey, #8 Franky and Jane and #4 Elegant Model comprising your Colonial Penn Triple Stumper of the Evening. And back for even more (literally!) madness in Race 9 with #5 Flashy Kid, #4 Prince of Time, #11 Got Grit, #2 Northern Candyride making up your NBCSN Nightly Upset Alert Upset Alert

In Mountain 7, #4 Voodoo Storm is no worse off than any of the others entered. Voo-doo!

Now, no wagering available in Thistle 9, but it appears #2 Senorita Dominguez will pull down the purse.

Yesterday’s Activity: Ah, the ol’ misdirection ploy!

You know how it is. A pretty lady distracts the bank guards so the thugs can pull off the heist. An accomplice tells you you dropped something on the tour bus, and while you bend over to pick it up, an itchy-palmed and fast-fingered local pickpocket plucks your billfold. The best one involves little kids eating something yummie like French-freedom friesz, and then one of the kids points to a faraway corner and says, ‘Look, a serpent!’, and while all the other kids search in vain for the imaginary hisser, the schemer kid is stuffing everyone else’s food in his face.

So yesterday they told us to watch all them exciting Breeders’ Cup races, making it easy to forget about all the other horses, races and tracks going on at the same time. Thanks a lot, Breeders’ Cup Ltd.! Thanks a lot!

While everybody could not take their eyes off all the Grade I superstars, they snuck in Race 10 at Calder Race Course (official corporation-name: Gulf West, like any other bank, car-dealership, investment firm or condominium-complex). Yes, nobody was watching the finale at the Calder Race Course.

Sole-touted Burning Time, 20-1 on your morning line and without Fair Odds (!) in a contentious race, nonetheless garnered consideration via his tied-for-top-ranked 96 in the vaunted LifeLiner Speed Column Analysis.

In real life, Burning Time went off at 54-1, rallied to his complete 62-70-96 LifeLiner array and won by 2½ lengths clear, paying $110.

So, the Breeders’ Cup was the winking lady, and if you were not the distractor, you were the pickpocket. Good job!

As always, hope you had ’em!

P.S. Since it was in the day’s final race, you know what that means? Yup, you guessed it. A KING OF THE NIGHTCAP NETCAPPER BULLIESZ SPECIAL. SPECIAL. BULLIESZ!
