Bettie & Stan have a disagreement over how the local nerds ought to be treated

All right, all right, sports fansz! It’s bloated, it’s grotesque, and it’s loud and it’s proud. And today it is back. Of course, this ‘it’ to which we refer can only be that monstrosity known as top-level professional American Gridiron Throwball.

Did you see all the nonsense that went on prior to Thursday’s game? Man, in today’s world, if it’s not brash and flashy and hyper-produced, it’s like it doesn’t even exist. It seems like the only way to get noticed is to be yelling harder and jumping up and down more frenetically than the mopesz next to you. Hoo-boy.

Elsewhere, how ’bout that Va. Poly Poultry screeching its talons to gouge out the Buckeye of Brutus of The Script Ohio State Univ.? In the wake of the great upset, Ned Reldem, Esq. (VT ’85), admitted to weeping tears of deliverance from the Undergraduate Gridiron Wilderness.

Speaking of the Undergraduate Gridiron Wilderness, the Teal Ripple of Tulane Univ. played its 2014 home opener yesterday, the inaugural game at the brand-new Yul Brynner Stadium on campus; they hadn’t played Uptown since 1974. Still they lost to GIT, and are now 0-2 for your season.

Finally, who could have possibly selected the Kei Nishikori-Marin Cilic exacta box to come in for your 2014 American Professional Lawn Tennis Tournament Men’s Final? How are these two virgins the last guysz standing? How?!

Free ones: Rundown…

Belmont 8, 10
Gulf 5, 6, 7, 9, 11
Los Alamitos Thoroughbreds 5, 6, 9

Pay-side: Today…

Arlington 5

Louisiana 2, 5
Monmouth 6, 8, 10

Today’s Stakes Pageantry: Woodbine 8 on the pay-side.

Should be OK for #2 Doinghardtimeagain in Los Alamitos Thoroughbreds 8.

Big day at Emerald City, and #1 Hoody can post the upset in Race 4. One-to-nine on your morning line looks just about right for the dominant #1 Trackattacker in the fifth. However, upset looks in prospect via #5 Fine Red Wine in Race 7.

Your Colonial Penn Double Stumper of the Day comes in, fittingly, Presque 6: #2 Adventurous Fox, #4 Park Boss. Your NBCSN Upset Alert Upset Alert appears in Thistle 7 through #4 Doctoriat, #2 Plain Ol’ Willard.

Zia now, and it’s all good for #3 Warren’s Knockout in the 10th.

Yesterday’s Activity: All touted issues…

Belmont 4, Laila’s Jazz, $15.60
Los Alamitos Thoroughbreds 8, Soi Phet, $11.60

Of course, it is important not to forget this one…
