Up the Arse!

Break up the Goonersz! Two consecutive games, two pieces of silverware!

The Premiership brand of fútbol always makes the other leagues — and even the World Cup — look slow and moseying. English clubs are pinging that ball around like it was a game enclosed by a glass cabinet with flippers and bumpers. Truly, the high-tempo, pressing style on offer in England is the closest you’ll see to 11-man ice-hockey. Stay awake — the ball’s coming to YOU!

The 2014-15 season begins for keeps this coming Saturday. Up the Arse!

Free ones: Rundown…

Saratoga Race Course 5, 7, 9, 10
Gulf 2, 5, 6, 8, 11
Del Mar Thoroughbred Club 3, 5, 6, 7

Pay-side: Today…

Arlington 6, 8, 9
BelTerra 7
Ellis Park 7
Monmouth 4, 6
Woodbine 3, 5, 6, 8

Today’s Stakes Pageantry: Saratoga Race Course 9 & 10 on the free page. BelTerra 7, Woodbine 6 on the pay-side.

Monmouth 8 seems close but #2 Perpetual Novena should be able to edge it out.

Even-money on your morning line in Woodbine 9; however it’s appears too tough to defeat #2 Lexie Lou.

Presque 5 has some possibilities, including the fave-longie tandem of #6 Dame Dorothy and #5 Keystone Kelly.

Up to Santa Rosa now for Race 9. #6 Mahorney is not out of it at 8-1 on your morning line.

Yesterday’s Activity: Free page is free page and pay-side is pay-side and never the twain shall meet…

Hoo-boy. At least the free page came through a little bit for your Saturday. Five touted winners for your free page Saturday, and here they were:

Over at the Saratoga Race Course, it started inauspiciously enough, with top-touted Requite taking the fourth at a scandalous $5.60 straight. Requite was 8-1 on the morning line and the steam proved the chalk-lover’s dream. OK.

Race 5 over there on the NYRA circuit brought Second Bonkersmate Pretension to the winner’s circle at a showy $19.60 up top.

Pretension, 10-1 on your morning line but without Fair Odds from your conventional V6 Betting Line, nonetheless got a stamp of approval in this contentious race via his fine 85 rating on the LifeLiner Speed Column analysis. Pretension made the pace throughout, more or less in line with his complete LifeLiner array of 84-92-85 and won by half a length.

Two down, three to go, with one of the three being in the finale at the Spa: Prayed For, $19.20.

Prayed For, a debut issue at 12-1 on your morning line, got to the top of the V6 Betting Line anyway, Fair Odds of 3½-1; her connection line was a satisfactory 27pc/13pc/35pc.

Untouted Forensic, 2½-1 on the morning line and thus too small a price to give out publicly, nonetheless had your top LifeLiner Speed Column rating in the field and completed the exacta, which paid $86.50, for $2.

One each now at Gulfstream and Del Mar.

At Gulf, Callmeback, sole-touted in Race 9, won by 3½ lengths at $16.80 straight.

Callmeback, top of your V6 Betting Line at Fair Odds of 4-1 in a contentious race, went gate-to-wire to run to his complete LifeLiner array of 98-93-83.

At Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, where once again the turf meets the surf, top-touted Heyyoucan won Race 3 by three parts of a length at a fantastical $49.40 straight.

Heyyoucan, top of the V6 Betting Line at Fair Odds of 3½-1 in a contentious race, was 10-1 on the morning line and had a qualifying 84 in the LifeLiner Speed Column analysis.

So that makes five on the free page.

Over on the pay-side, a near-disaster, save for the good Canadians running Woodbine, a k a Rexdale-Etobicoke Int’l.

In Race 4, Bonkersmate Travelin Dream won at $15.20, with top-touted Flying Echo, 33-1, completing your winning $262 exactor, for $2 in a six-horse field.

This was a weird race in that all but one of the horseys qualified on the LifeLiner Speed Column analysis; the unqualified horsey was the 8-5 public fave who wound up running fourth and out of the triactor, which paid $1,001.20, for $2.

We will not be able go over the numerous short and long prices successfully touted in yesterday’s ‘Today’s Stakes Pageantry’ section, nor can we discuss further the top-touted 41-1 shocker at Canterbury that appeared in your ‘Nocturnal Submission: Freestanding Edition 87’ from yesterday. When it rains, it pours.

However, with the last-race score at Saratoga, we are pleased to announce for a second day running that we were able to provide a KING OF THE NIGHTCAP NETCAPPER BULLIESZ special. BULLIESZ!

As always, hope you had ’em!
