Feasting on the cheap

Italian sausage: 2x. Onion: 3x. Garlic: 4x. Liberal application of fennel seed. No digestive issues! However, subsequent social interactions take a big hit.

Today’s Stakes Pageantry: None today, but Montreal in the North American Major League Ice Hockey Tournament must keep on winning or else go home and start playing ‘Everybody Knows’ by hometown legend Mr. Leonard Cohen. This time it’s in New York, and King Henrik likely will be ready to make immediate amends. In all, the ice-hockey has been exciting this season, especially all the overtime tilts.

As well, NBCSN has had a charmed life so far. They began with the most exciting Premiership title race in recent history, and now they are hyping to maximum effect California Chrome’s Belmont nine days from now. During the fútbol, they promoted all the hockey and the horseys. Very nice. It has all worked out for them quite brilliantly. Of course, Rebecca Lowe should be hosting all the studio programming, including the horseys and the hockey and not just the fútbol, but it has been a charmed last month for the NBCSN. It leaves the other giant sports-channel networks with very little to boast about. NBCSN #1 alwayszzz! We are with you, NBCSN. Just get rid of bald-headed so-called handicapping experts on the set. That guy has been bald his whole life. Expert, so-called. Still, the baldheaded guy is better than the other expert, so-called, with the fat stomach and the lisp and the eyeglasses. Still, NBCSN > other four-letter sports channel > Nick Jr. > > Disney XD > three-letter horseracing channel featuring haircuts and dirty ex-ballplayersz.

Yesterday’s Activity: Delpark 2 had Bonkersmate Another Surprise (!) winning at $17.60 up top.

Another Surprise, 8-1 on your morning line as a first-time starter in a contentious race, had the requisite 10pc-plus across his connection line: 15pc/20pc/26pc.

Then in Race 4 there, top-touted Won the War ran to that billing after a prolonged stretch battle at 7-1, or $16-straight.

Won the War was bet-down slightly from his 8-1 morning line. Won the War was top of your conventional V6 Betting Line, Fair Odds of 3½-1 in a contentious race. On the LifeLiner Speed Column analysis, Won the War had a sufficient 83. Indeed, the top three finishers were LifeLiner Speed Column analysis qualifiers, and the exacta paid $57.40 while the trizacta returned $364.60, both for $2.

As always, Welcome to The Home of The Runner-Up Finish, this time nearly led by Uncatchable Fire in your opener at Woodbine.

Uncatchable Fire, lone-touted at 8-1 on your morning line and 12-1 in real life, was ignored on the Betting Line but somehow — somehow! — top-ranked on your LifeLiner Speed Column analysis, 99.

Uncatchable Fire ran to his complete LifeLiner array — 60-74-99 — rallying well enough to beat all but the winner; the margin of defeat was 1¼ lengths. The winner was the 9-5 fave. Nothing commendable on that winner, though. Sorry. Regretsz!

Finally, in the seventh at Rexdale-Etobicoke Int.’l, sole-touted Calgary Cat won at $14.70.

Calgary Cat was 12-1 on your morning line and next-to-last on the V6 Betting Line, no Fair Odds, obviously. Somehow — somehow! — Calgary Cat had your top LifeLiner Speed Column analysis rating in the field, 85, and ran to his complete LifeLiner array (65-66-85), closing like the champion he’s on his way to becoming, winning by 1¼.

As always, hope you had ’em!
