In bloom
Well, hello there, Sunshine!
Free ones: Rundown…
Aqueduct 8, 9
Gulf 5, 6, 9
Santa Anita 5, 9
Pay-side: Today…
Fair Grounds 2, 4
Hawthorne 6, 9
Laurel 4, 7
Oaklawn 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 11
Sunland 8, 9, 11
Tampa 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11
Turfway 2, 4, 6
Turf Paradise 3
Nineteen horseys touted for Oaklawn alone. ‘Security! Security! Kindly remove this mope from the premises. Thank you.’
Today’s Stakes Pageantry: Aqu 8 on the free page.
Tiptoeing around the morning-line fave in GP 10, the Grade II Honey Fox: #7 Tapicat, #6 Centre Court.
Singling out #5 Let Faith Arise in SA 7, the Grade I Santa Margarita.
Another tiptoe race in TuP 4, the Tempe: #6 My Rochester, #3 Top of the World.
And another singling-out race in TuP 7: #4 Lazy Daisy May.
Longshot chance to #1 Runaway STEPHEN in DeD 10, the Borgata in Frantic City.
If she comes back ready to run, #7 Spice Swirl deserves top billing in our Extra for Experts Race, Fonner 10, the Orphan Kist.
Yesterday’s Activity: We have been pretty taciturn here lately. But when you tout a triple-digit-win-mutuel horsey it’s time to start flapping your mouth. Speak, dummie!
Friday, March 14, 2014, Race 2 at Fair Grounds. Contentious race for maidens, and one first-time starter, 12-1 on the morning line, sneaks into the Betting Line at Fair Odds of 4-1, second-best in the field.
We all know how to handle firsters in this sort of situation: Check the connection line. In this case, we have 14pc/14pc/20pc. All three measures are double-figure-good, and that’s good enough for consideration.
All the more so when the horse in question, Passing Pfast, starts showing up at 50¢ shy of 60-1 (60!) on the toteboard.
Passing Pfast runs to her name, quickly going by runners in deep stretch to win by 1¼ at $121-even. Straight. Mark ’em up!
A couple of other outright winners too, one for free. As always, hope you had ’em!
