Back in bidness!

Flannery O’Connor. Ever read her? Good stuff. One of her short stories is called “The Barber”. Here’s a quote from it:

“What you got there, Joe?” one of the men in the back called, “one of them goodgovermint boys?”

“Yeah,” the barber said. “He’s gonna make a speech.”

Free ones: Ah, lookie-loos, no such luck today, laddies!

Pay-side: Rundown…

Hawthorne 5, 6, 7, 9
Keeneland 1, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9
Remington 1, 2, 4, 6, 7
Suffolk 8, 9
Turf Paradise 7

Lose or win, another top day at Lexington.

Today’s Stakes Pageantry: None today, but Los Doyers de Los Angeles have the most to play for this afternoon, and not even the hot-blooded salsa-merengue celebrations of Y. Puig y A. Gonzalez might be able to save them.

Yesterday’s Activity: Now, we’ve seen many homeruns at Dodger Stadium, some of them during batting practice when beefroid players like B. Bonds & M. McGwire were jacking them toward the grounds of the nearby Police Academy some half-a-mile away. However, not a one of those could compare to the absolute crusher delivered last night by the one-and-only Mistah Matt Holliday of your Saint Louie Cardinales. That thing blew past the Police Academy and was last seen heading northbound on the Interstate 5 toward Burbank.
