The Phillie Phlyersz Phlash!

Just in time for Halloween!

Free ones: Rundown…

Belmont 5, 6, 7, 10
Calder / Gulf Gulf 3, Gulf 4, Gulf 5, Gulf 6, Gulf 7, Gulf 8
Santa Anita 5, 7, 8, 9

Pay-side: Today…

Hawthorne 2, 4, 5, 9
Keeneland 1, 5, 6, 7, 9
Monmouth 7
Turf Paradise 6, 8
Woodbine 5, 7, 9
Zia 4, 7, 8

Today’s Stakes Pageantry: Bel 7, 10 on the free page. Likewise SA 7.

Kee 7 on the pay-side.

Also there, tiptoeing around the morning-line fave in the eighth, the Grade I Spinster. The preferred quartet is #3 Sisterly Love, #11 On Fire Baby, #6 Byrama, #9 Summer Applause.

Yesterday’s Activity: Over at the Bel 8, Bonkersmate Up With the Birds took it for the visiting Filthadelfia Igglesz at 4-1, well below his 8-1 morning line. The race was wide-open contentious vis-a-vis the Betting Line, and ’Up had a solid LifeLiner Speed Column score.

Interesting development in Gulf 4 via the Second Bonkersmate and First Bonkersmate; the former, 5-1, completed the exacta behind the 2½-1 fave, who was the best experienced runner in the field and the top (98) LifeLiner Speed. The exacta was $44 in the 10-horse field, and the trifecta, with the show-horse at 21-1, paid $355 (for $1).

Then in Race 8 there, First Bonkersmate Starship Avenger came through at $22.20 up top. Bet-down from a 12-1 morning line, Starship Avenger attended the pace for the first half-mile before making the front around the far-turn and holding steady by a length. The runner-up was the top LifeLiner and the 2&frac12-1 fave; the exacta paid $94-even.

Over at Santa Anita, it was a King of the NetCapper Bulliesz special via Cal Gal, $32-even. Ignored from 10-1 on the morning line, Cal Gal was a strong competitor across all points of the LifeLiner Early-Pace-Speed Spectrum. Runner-up Lofoque was a firster with qualifying numbers across his Trainer/Jockey/Trainer-Jockey line, and the exacta paid $683 for $2. The show-horse was a LifeLiner qualifier, with the trifecta returning 30¢ shy of $1,800 for $1. Sorry, but the fourth-place horse was not gettable.

Another King of the NetCapper Bulliesz special for yourselves, this time at the Hawthorne. Bonkersmate Mischief N Mayhem, 12-1 on the morning line, went gate-to-wire at $17.20. No further exotics, though. Sorry.

A score in an opener, for a change, via Wolseley Bay, $24-even, at Laurel. Wolseley Bay, 12-1 on the morning line, never trailed and was top of the Betting Line and a competitive qualifier on LifeLiner Speed.

Now, how does this one happen: It was Race 6 at the Retama, and Mepache Creek was top of the Betting Line and OK on LifeLiner and at 7-1 on the morning line. Wins at 2-5 — 2-5! Thanks a lot, San Antonio! Thanks a lot!

Four touted races at Remington, three winners. No big prices, but better than a poke in the eyeball with a Jim Bowie Knife. Or something like that.
