Doc gets the rock today. Through five innings, 72 pitches thrown. At that pace, if he were fully fit, he’d probably last until the seventh or a little extra. Downtown Domonic Brown still a little ouchy in the Achilles, though.

Free ones: Rundown…

Saratoga Race Course 6, 9, 11
Calder / Gulf Calder 4, Gulf 1, Gulf 5, Gulf 7, Gulf 8, Gulf 9
Del Mar Thoroughbred Club 3, 4, 7, 8, 10

Filner out! One time, San Diego! One time! Fix that starting gate down there! The Padres are also called the “Friars”. As Lee “Hacksaw” Hamilton exhorts: “SHOW ME YOUR LIGHTNING BOLTS, SAN DIEGO!” When he said that, you thought it was the voice of Zeus booming down from Olympus. Then you actually see the guy in person, and he reminds you of Moe Howard of The Three Stooges instead.

Pay-side: Today…

Arlington 8
Ellis Park 1, 7
Golden Gate 8, 9
Louisiana 3, 4, 8
Monmouth 8, 10, 11
Woodbine 7, 10

Today’s Stakes Pageantry: Race 7 at Del Mar is the Grade II Pat O’Brien (aha! which one? The “Have Fun!” with Hurricanes one in New Orleans?; the one who was in the black-and-white movies?; the one who is like Lee “Hacksaw” Hamilton and wants to talk sports with you on call-in radio? ONLY THE SHADOW KNOWS!) Yes, Del Mar 7 is on the free page. So is Sar 6.

Before that, it’s the fifth, the Grade II Del Mar Mile. #5 El Commodore is better than most suspect.

Wild longshot inclusion emerges in Dmr 9, the Grade I HRTV/Racing Channel Pacific Classic: #3 Holding Glory. Chris Lincoln, where have you gone?

Sar 10 is the Grade I Personal Ensign, and probably #2 Royal Delta cannot lose.

Mth 10 & WO 7 on the pay-side.

In EmD 9, #1 See My Tail Lites can shake things up a little in the exotics world, maybe more.

All right, all right, ya Ferndale loversz! #7 Achak is not out of it in the eighth there, the Marathon.

Yesterday’s Activity: Chevrons was a winning longshot in AP 6. Chevrons was top of the V6 Betting Line and the only LifeLiner Speed Column qualifier. Chevrons was 12-1 on your morning line and 17-1 on the tote. Chevrons paid $37.60 to win.
