Man, that TCM is a good channel. Elizabeth Taylor in back-to-back heartwrenchers last night: The movie in the above clip, then what was left of the nerves were completely shredded by her tour de force in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Lots o’ drama. Lots.

Then when we turned on the channel this morning, it was screening the Green Grass of Wyoming, a sentimental little flick about a sulky horse and his lovable-loser driver! Harness! In Wyoming! Harness! TCM #1 alwayszzz!

Free ones: Rundown…

Saratoga Race Course 1, 5, 7, 11
Calder / Gulf Calder 2, Calder 10, Gulf 8
Del Mar Thoroughbred Club 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10

Come on, San Diego! Filner out! One time, San Diego! One time!

Pay-side: Today…

Arlington 6, 7, 8
Ellis Park 2, 5, 6, 8
Louisiana 1, 5, 6, 8
Monmouth 5, 8, 9
Remington 6, 9
Woodbine 6

Today’s Stakes Pageantry: Calder 10, the eponymous Turf Dash there, is on the free page.

So is Saratoga 11, the Grade I King’s Bishop. Today is your big day, Saratoga. Have a wonderful time over there!

Should be good for #8 Brothersofthetime in Calder 5, the Seacliff.

Open deal in the next race there, the Lindsay Frolic: #6 Flat Out Charming complements the morning-line fave and strong contender #2 Light Bringer.

Amazingly, that’s precisely the price-dynamic going on in the Crc 7, the Catcharisingstar: #1 Secret Kitten, #7 Solitary.

Uh-oh. Triple Threat Horsey status befalls #1 Scandalous Act in Calder 8, the Susan’s Girl. That’s also the case in Gulf 7, the Eight Miles East: #1 Where’s Sterling.

Looks contentious in Mth 11, the Omnibus: #4 Valiant Girl, #7 Explainable constitute our nonfavoured pairing.

Another nonfavoured pairing involves #6 Southoftheborder and #2 Tallys Sundance in Suffolk 8, the First Episode.

Siding with the second-choice on the morning line in the eighth at Woodbine, the Swynford: #6 Tuscan Getaway.

Alb 5, the Don Juan De Onate (ONATE!), has #5 Joker’s Touch ready to make an impression. Pretty random in the seventh there, the Chief Narbona: #4 Hennessy Road can lead to Victory Lane. In the eighth, the Carlos Salazar, #2 Tricky R. and #4 Western May comprise yet one more nonfavoured duo. Likewise #4 Playin Tough and #7 Rosa’s Catena in the ninth, the Lineage.

Oustide chance for #3 She Arose, longest shot on your morning line at 5-1 (5-1!), in Columbus 7, the eponymous Maturity/Matron there.

#2 Jax and JILL dominates the eighth at Chas. Town, the Sylvia Bishop Memorial.

Too strong for #4 Amy Marie in the opener at Marquis, the Parkland Heritage. Then in the fifth, the Shortgrass Heritage, we try to tiptoe around the faves, with #6 Stealth Ride not out of it.

#1 Mr Know It All (!) appears worthy in NP 6, the Birdcatcher; also in that one, longshot #4 Wild Legend can be an interloper.

OK. Exhaling now. Too much horseys sometimes. Sometimes.

Yesterday’s Activity: A good one yesterday in WO 8, with Top the Podium winning at nearly 20-1.

’Podium was 8-1 on your morning line and 3½-1 on the V6 Fair Odds Betting Line, second-ranked on the latter. Wide-open race, with a loose scattering of win-probabilities and all but two of the entrants getting sanctioned by the LifeLiner Speed Column.

The win mutuel was CA$41.20, the exactor paid $249.20, the $2 triactor returned $930.30 and the $1 super-duper came back $1,584.25.
