Action!

Free ones: Rundown…

Saratoga Race Course 9
Calder / Gulf Gulf 5, Gulf 6
Del Mar Thoroughbred Club 2, 4, 5, 6, 9

Pay-side: Today…

Arlington 6, 8, 10
Ellis Park 8
Louisiana 1, 8, 9
Monmouth 6, 8, 10
Woodbine 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 10

Come on, Woodbine! One time! See below.

Today’s Stakes Activity: Spa 9, the Auntie Mame, is on the free page.

ElP 8, the Grade III Gardenia (Malkmus: “You are a gardenia!”), is on the pay-side.

Looking good for outsider #6 Rosengold in the eighth at Del Mar, the Grade II La Jolla.

The duo to watch in Gulf 9, the TaWee, is #6 Millennia, #8 Awesome Belle.

Preferring #2 Lucky Rag Doll in Mth 11, the Grade III eponymous Oaks there.

Interesting third-choice on the morning line in WO 8, the Ont. Deb. #4 Skylander Girl can do it.

Uh-oh. Triple Threat Horsey emerges in the opener at Les Bois, the Idaho Cup Claiming: #2 Joe’s Cannon.

Wide-open in the eighth there, the Distaff Dby. #8 Mischievous Appeal has plenty.

Pick a number in Canterbury 8, the Minnehaha Oaks: #1 Badge of Glory is ours.

Appearing too good in CT 8, the Sadie Hawkins, is #3 Jax and JILL. And it looks like another win in the bag for #5 Stopshoppingdebbie in EmD 9, the Wash. Oaks.

Of course, how can we pick against our favourite horsey of all time, #1 UNITAS in EvD 10, the eponymous Mile there?

A chance for #3 Legend Fortynine in Northlands 7, the 2yo Sales.

Assuming the legitimate-fave tag in PrM 7, the eponymous Juvy Mile there, is #7 Smack Smack.

Extra-special “Today’s Stakes Pageantry” Triple Stumper for you in SR 9, the Owners’s H: #1 Ain’t No Other, #5 Zeewat, #2 Northern Causeway.

Hard to separate #5 Needmore Flattery and #3 Matter of Fact in Tdn 7, the Cleveland Kindergarten.

OK. Exhale.

Yesterday’s Activity: It was a good race to be alive for. Twelve horseys, a mile and a sixteenth on the Rexdale-Etobicoke Int’l. turf, conditioned allowance, Race 8, Friday, Aug. 9, 2013.

Three major touted issues in the lineup: Bonkersmate Love to Battle, 8-1 morning and 9-1 on the toteboard; another Bonkersmate, Sunny Weather, 20-1 and 30-1; and the top-touted Ryder Kay, 20-1 and 46-1.

Ryder Kay made the running almost every step of the way. He was looking like a goner in the late-stages but somehow battled back for the runner-up spot. The 12-1 winner was beyond us. Sorry.

Beaten three parts of a length for a $94 win-mutuel. Though the place-spot was decided by an even smaller margin. This was a good bit of gambling, just not the optimal outcome.

As always, Welcome to The Home of The Runner-Up Finish!
