Land of the Free!

Happy Independence Day!

Free ones: Rundown…

BFHollyPark 5, 9

Pay-side: Today…

Arlington 8, 10
Colonial 2, 3, 7, 8
Ellis Park 1, 3, 7
Louisiana 6
Lone Star 1, 3, 4, 8, 9
Monmouth 4, 5, 6

Today’s Stakes Pageantry: Bel 4 contains a vaunted Triple Threat Horsey: #5 Discreet Marq.

Playing to exclude the morning-line fave in GP 7. Three to consider are #2 Alley Oop Oop, #3 Megamove, #5 Balino.

Moderate upset in prospect via another Triple Threat Horsey in Mth 10, the Grade III Jersey Shore (!): #5 Uptown Boy.

Quite a scramble in Cby 8, the Frances Genter, and #1 Badge of Glory is as worthy as any of the others.

Looks good for #3 Shades of Sugar in FL 8, the Niagara. Likewise #2 Distinctiv Passion in Pln 9.

Yesterday&rsquos; Activity: As always, Welcome to The Home of The Runner-Up Finish.

Del 1, sloppy, rain up and down the Eastern Seaboard. No sales tax in Delaware. Save some money. Shop the First State, a Member Colony of The Original Thirteen. Touted Tripplite, 8-1 morning line and 10-1 toteboard, was good enough only for the second-place finish this time. The winner was 3-1 and a LifeLiner qualifier, with the saver exacta returning $53. OK.

Two additional seconds at Delpark, though at way-lower odds than their morning lines.

Suf 5, one race after a crazy 52-1 winner that we still are looking for. Suf 5, then. Bubber was touted, 10-1 morning line and 15-1 actual, and beat all the rest save the winner. Sorry for not getting the 3½-1 winner to qualify on LifeLiner. Boo!

One winner, well bet-down. It was the finale at Suffolk. Seeking the Point, 8-1 morning and 3-1 (!) actual (thanks, E. Boston! thanks a lot!), lived up to his LifeLiner array of 99-99-99 in going gate-to-wire at $8.40. Runner-up was 4½-1 and OK on LifeLiner. The exacta was $41. Come on, you Jonahs!

Nocturnal Submission: Presque 4 (6:40 p.m. EDT / 3:40 p.m. PDT) looks like the race of the day on the continent, and #4 Dazzled Saint is not out of it.

Thank you. Best wishes. Goodbye. Drive safely.
