As we do each Palm Sunday (well, the last two, anyway), we kindly remind you to pull out your copy of the album Ocean Rain and play it liberally during this Holy Week 2013. Hell, just put it on a continuous loop in the background. In terms of the whole Story of The Passion and springtime and such, no other modern-music collection captures the ups, downs and ups again, the whole manic-depressiveness of Holy Week, as this album does. (For cripes sake, there are songs titled “The Yo-Yo Man”, “Thorn of Crowns” and “My Kingdom” on it!) This is a springtime album; this is an album for Palm Sunday and Good Friday and Maundy Thursday and all of it. All the main characters are here too: Judas, Jesus, Pilate, the Disciples, God Himself, the Centurions, you name it. Gethsemane, Golgotha, Potter’s Field, it’s all here. If this album doesn’t put you in Holy Week, doesn’t put you in springtime, ah, well, as one of the better lyrics puts it, “Where’s the sense in stealing/Without the grace to be it?”

Top-choice Lucia’s Dream ran last, though, 25-1. That’s talent right there, a first-last exacta call. How is it possible? Well-numbered firster, 5-1 morning line, completed a makeable $174 exacta.
Another day, another natural double at Gulf, Races 3 & 4. Break Up the Game, 8-1 morning and 5-1 actual, $13.40 in the third; First Bonkersmate Go Joe Go, 10-1 morning and 6-1 actual, $15.60 to win, $129 for your daily double. Contentious race, that fourth, with all four qualifying on the LifeLiner: $48 exacta, 229-1 trifecta, 1,117-1 super-duper. It happens.
Seven listed in Race 9 at Gulf. No dice. Horrific. Snake oil! Gonzaga!
