Today’s Stakes Pageantry: There were two today at Aqueduct. We attempted to defeat the 1-5 fave in the third, but our 4-1 second-choice was merely the runner-up. In the fifth, it was another 1-5 to try to knock down, and our 6-1 preference was not even close. Our attempts to reach Herr Cal Rove for creative excuse-making, justifications and rationalizations have been unsuccessful. Pity.
