Drive Like Thunder, Crash Like Lightning…

For some, summer is over the day after Labour Day. But for us, it’s always a few days later, when the annual Hollywood Bowl subscription-series season comes to a close. So it was last night…

It did not matter that the temperatures were still well into the 90s (Fahrenheit) at showtime, nor did it matter that the next day’s temperatures were approaching 100 in Studio City. Now the summer is truly over.

Brian Setzer & His Orchestra rocked the house. An electric guitar virtuoso. At times sounded like vintage Steve Howe (remember Yes?) in the upper registers. Also pulled some Stanley Jordanesque fret-only playing. Overall, high energy, at times backed by the house Orchestra. A similar feeling to hearing Al Hirt playing “Java” with the Boston Pops.

Now, Carlie May Jetson? Who is she again?
