The Mulholland Bridge in Better Days

Tear It Down Already!

Carmageddon! Ever heard of it?

In Southern California, the only good commute to work involves padding in your Uggs or Crocs from the bedroom to the office in the backroom. Indeed, as we learned from the 1984 indie cinema classic Repo Man: “The more you drive, the less intelligent you are.” Of course, the movie itself was set in L.A.!

The reverse of that quote also is true! Because only those with the hardest heads would gladly sacrifice the best years of their lives to idle in bumper-to-bumper gaper-blocks from the Valley to the Westside, five or six days a week!

Free ones:

Rundown
Belmont 2, 4, 5
Calder 2, 8, 9
Hollypark 4, 7, 8

Good early half of the card at Elmont, N.Y. Decent at Calder. However, a Carmageddon-worthy card over at Inglewood tonight. Translation: Stay home! Don’t even bother telecommuting there or playing it on satellite. Yuck! Stay away, stay away, stay away! Del Mar can’t come soon enough!

Pay-side:

Rundown
Monmouth 4, 8, 12
Woodbine 5, 7, 8
River 3, 4, 5
Ellis 1, 3, 7
Arlington 6, 7, 8
Louisiana 7, 8, 9

A little milder than normal for Oceanport. A lessening of the usual atrocities at River. Consistently good this afternoon at Ellis. Come on, Ellis! Ditto Arlington. Come on, Arlington! Woodbine pretty good, too. Overall, probably the best Friday of racing so far this season. Thank you!

Try #4 Bless You Child, with sensible backup from #6 Bella Uno. …In an attempt to broaden your Thoroughbred horizons, we go to the fourth at Grand Prairie (never heard of it?!) (9:15 / 6:15), where #5 Catsimile can do it. …Then in the fourth at Lincoln (9:03 / 6:03), #6 Zena’s Affair gets the call; later, in the eighth (10:47 / 7:47), #8 Jayembro. …

Good evening. Stay off the roads, Angelenos! We will keep you informed of any important developments in racing via the interwebsz! Best wishes!
