Nevermind that the horse they were most interested in belonged to grandmum (known to the rest of us as, uh, “Her Royal Majesty, the Queen”) or that the whole spectacle took place at Royal Epsom for the DarbyDerbyDarby. Can’t we just say that it’s cool and fashionable to get dressed up and go to the local hippodrome, even if that means little more than throwing on a shirt with a collar and hightailing it to SunRay Park or the Mountain to tackle $4,000 claimers? It may be called the Sport of Kings (or Kings-in-Waiting), but it belongs to us all.
