Your Saturday Stakes Sweep: March 5, 2011

Three Graded stakes already posted for your wagering enjoyment. Find them over on the free page.

Those complimentary ones are the Grade III Gotham at Aqueduct; the Grade III Honey Fox from Gulfstream; and, of course, the Big One on the day (Trevor Denman: “indeed, the Big One for the meet”), your Grade I Santa Anita Handicap. Again, those are included on today’s Pick of the Day page.

Unfortunately, not too much else appears promising for your Saturday. A lock looks in the works in the fourth at Aqueduct, the Fred Capossela. There, #3 Rift seems ready to split from the rest.

Over at the Oaklawn, more chalk. The ninth is the Mountain Valley. #1 Smoke It Right should light ’em up.

Finally, the race before today’s Big Cap is the ninth at Santa Anita, the Grade I Kilroe Mile. We try to defeat the morning-line fave with a stab duo of #5 Square Eddie and #3 Acclamation, with #2 Fluke as the bailout saver. This is mainly as a way to spice things up!

Enjoy your afternoon, and maybe back later for one more from Sam Houston. So until next time, best wishes for a prosperous Saturday.
