BestLine Racing Society Recap:
Several post-press-time connections to report from last night’s (Saturday’s) late action: At Shakopee, Minn., Race 6 truly did go to #3 Virtually (.185 Win Prob / 4.41-1 Fair Odds / 6.57-1 Premium Odds) at $102-even — not a typo! Completing your winning $477.60 exacta was #1 Lock It Down (.263 / 2.80 / 3.56), with the premium price on that comboa (comboa!) being $59.91. In Race 8 there, #2 Handsome Harry (.322 / 2.11 / 2.73) looked best and ran that way, too, at $8.60. At Chas. Town, W.Va., Race 8 was won by local hero #9 Hillbilly Pride (.171 / 4.85 / 7.19) at $18.20; completing your winning $99.60 exacta was #7 Christopher’sheart (.221 / 3.52 / 4.43), with the premium price on that comboa (comboa!) being $78.08. At Nisku, Edmonton, Alta., #7 Firecracker Stand (.280 / 2.57 / 3.29) exploded in Race 8 at $11.40; completing your winning $58.40 exacta was #5 Isle of Skye (.190 / 4.26 / 5.32), with the premium price on that comboa (comboa!) being $41.58. Next race there, #4 Strope (.230 / 3.35 / 4.22) struck at $12-even. In Race 6 there, #1 Jack Van Berg (.188 / 4.32 / 5.38) won it for the King of the Claimers at $15.40. At Altoona, Iowa, #4 Rock City Rocket (.334 / 1.99 / 2.59) landed in the winner’s circle at $9.60.
As for today (Sunday), there were some 120-plus races on offer (or at least that we analyzed & graded), a few of which went like this…
Starting today in The Land of 10,000 Lakes, Minnehaha, within the boundaries of Shakopee, where Race 2 went to #1 Valence (.305 / 2.28 / 2.93), who won it for John Wayne, Jm. Stewart & the liberty of atoms to bind at $17.60.
Over to Louisville, Ky., and Race 2 there, which was won by #10 Justifreak (.185 / 4.41 / 5.49) at $22.84. In Race 5, #9 Gulfport (.240 / 3.17 / 4.00) won it for Mississippi at $10.70. In Race 9, #6 Politicallycorrect (.144 / 5.94 / 7.33) did not win it for loudmouth pot-stirring talkshow hosts at $16.62; yes, this was 4¢ shy of the premium price of $16.66 — however, we could not blame you if you decided to leave those four pennies as a Tribute Upon The Altar of The God of Doing Business via The Parimutuels. We report, you decide!
Down by Hallandale Beach, Fla., #3 It’s Only Words (.335 / 1.99 / 2.58) spoke winning ones in Race 7 at $7.60.
In the Stickney, Ill., opener, #4 Starina (.496 / 1.02 / 1.42) and #5 Joyzella (.347 / 1.88 / 2.46) combined on your winning $11-even exacta whose premium price was $9.82. Next race there, #2 Ellie Deli (.245 / 3.08 / 3.90) was not smellie, ran wellie, made her foes jellie at $12.40.
From the O.C. in SoCal, Race 4 at Cypress, Calif., went to #1 Tequila Talkin (.409 / 1.44 / 1.93) at $5.80; apply the same disclaimer from Churchill Race 9 to this winner, except make the small margin of shortfall 6¢ instead of 4 — thank you!
#4 April Fools Andy (.326 / 2.07 / 2.68) proved just as tricky at the end of June here, prevailing in Laurel, Md.’s Race 4 at $20.60.
Farther-up the Eastern Seaboard now to Oceanport, N.J., and Race 4 there, won by #4 Awesome Prince (.400 / 1.50 / 2.00) at $20.60. In Race 8, #5 Amity Road (.236 / 3.24 / 4.93) led to the winner’s circle at $11.80; apply the same disclaimer from Churchill Race 9 to this winner, except make the small margin of shortfall 6¢ instead of 4 — thank you! Also, completing your $110-even exacta was #2 Jersey Perfection (.240 / 3.17 / 4.83), with the premium price on that comboa (comboa!) being $57.48. Then in the finale, which on this day was Race 10 numerically, #3 Turnsandconditions (.303 / 2.30 / 2.96) was unconditionally straight-enough to post the surprise at $17.40.
Finally, we end as we frequently do outside the borders of the U-S-A! U-S-A!, at Etobicoke Int’l., whose opener went to #3 Empty Gesture (.217 / 3.61 / 4.53), a full-hearted winner at $16.50. And then in the, fittingly, finale, numerically Race 10 on this program, #7 Media Sensation (.190 / 4.26 / 5.32) and #4 Great Faces (.191 / 4.24 / 5.28) combined on your winning $122.50 exacta whose premium price was $66.81.
