A solemn Good Friday to the faithful who still observe. It’s also just one Friday out of many, a 24-hour period occurring once every 168 hrs., and so that means we have to put-up some kind of song as a video lede. Yea, verily, to mark this religious commemoration in years past, we’ve done the obvious Ocean Rain tracks like ‘Thorn of Crowns’ and ‘My Kingdom’. Today, though, it’s a shoutout to the obscure but unforgettable outfit called Ultra Vivid Scene.

A few post-press-time connections to report from last night’s (Thursday’s) late action: At Chas. Town, W.Va., Race 3 went to #1 Reine Secret (.167 Win Prob / 4.99-1 Fair Odds / 6.19-1 Premium Odds) at $25.60. In Race 5, #6 Lovetheband (.422 / 1.37 / 1.84) won it for Robbie Robertson at $7.20. In Race 8, the finale, #4 Dream River (.182 / 4.49 / 5.59) roared into the winner’s circle at $52-even.
As for today (Friday, or, to some, Good Friday), another full slate.
Starting with the opener from Ozone Park, N.Y., it was #2 Cees Get Degrees (.626 / 0.60 / 0.92) delivering his A-game (at least in the context of this contest!) at $8-even. At the other end of the card, #8 Pineapple Man (.185 / 4.41 / 5.49) won the finale for Jm. Dole at $16-even.
Across the continent now to Albany, Calif., for a Race 2 lousy with firsters, enabling #4 Beat of My Heart (.683 / 0.46 / 0.76) to get away at a valuable $4-even.
From Hallandale Beach, Fla., #2 Rotondo (.247 / 3.05 / 4.67) took the fifth at a nice, round & unimpeachable $15.40.
#3 The Wild Grazer (.320 / 2.13 / 2.75) ate ’em up at an apt-sounding $8-even in Race 4 of the Arcadia, Calif., program.
At Sunland Park, N.M., the opener went to #4 Tsunami Gold (.211 / 3.74 / 5.64), who won it for big waves the world over at $28-even; completing your winning $87-even exacta was #2 Rig Rider (.240 / 3.17 / 4.83), with the premium price on that comboa (comboa!) being $65.76. In Race 3, #2 Free Again (.257 / 2.89 / 3.67) cost his rivals the victory at $12.80.
Race 7 on the Oldsmar, Fla., card went to #1 Gav N Brody (.250 / 3.00 / 4.60) at $13.20.
