Derby & Oaks files up, download them now, no pesky Derby AE’s to jam-up the software. We’ll catch-up with you sometime on Saturday morning. Let us know how your numbers and analyses come up. Meantime, here’s a good song to listen to. You might think it’s Elvis Costello, but it’s not. Also, prick up your ears to listen to who’s singing backing vocals.
Grew up in South Jersey listening to album-oriented rock-and-roll station 93.3 WMMR, still around. Thank goodness for WMMR, which was not like New York’s WPLJ or one of those blatantly primitive rock stations whose heavy rotation consisted of Jimi Hendrix & Led Zeppelin & AC/DC only, and then only the obvious songs.
Nope, WMMR was different. They had the full spectrum of the genre, and they played deep cuts all the time. Elvis Costello, Graham Parker, Joe Jackson and Nick Lowe were just as much in the mix as The Who & Heart & Aerosmith. A great station, good DJs, about as eclectic as you could get for a commercial rock-and-roll outfit. A similar station for the North Jersey / New York markets was the old WNEW-FM 102.7, the station that had Scott Muni.
