Ran into him a while back at the Original Farmers Market here. He was ordering some kind of carved-meat sandwich from Magee’s Kitchen, standing in line just like the rest of the citizens. In real life, he had the same goofy grin and a similar mop haircut as in this video lede. Courtney MacGraw was with us, and she could not help but thank him for his fine work in this role, this J. Pierpont Finch role. He smiled modestly and said thank you. No one is bigger than the game. He did not fetishize his own notoriety, unlike what goes on 24/7 today. Probably even if social media had existed back in his heyday, we doubt he would have made himself the spectacle; rather, he likely would have ignored that nonsense, preferring to let his talents and performances speak for themselves. R.I.P., Rob’t Morse.
