Hey!

Three selected races yesterday. As always lately, a noncontender won the public-pick-page race. Yea, verily, it currently is a fine tool for eliminating horses! Who knew! In that race yesterday, Turf Paradise 8, only one contender qualified as a win-wager. Mercy!

Races 6 & 7 at Sam Houston yesterday, more scuffling. Four win-overlay candidates overall, all pretty much in a contest with the ambulance.

So far today: Fair Grounds 5 had a probability of 32.1 percent, Fair Odds of 2.12-1 and Premium Odds of 2.74-1 on #6 Spooky Road, who won and paid $14.40 up top. Races 6 through the finale remain there.

Elsewhere, Gulf 2 had a slashline of .22/3.55/4.45 on #4 Rain, who precipitated a victory at $11.60. Gulf 5 featured #2 Penetanguishene at .125/7.00/10.20; she prevailed at $20.60. Races 8 and later remain in play in South Florida.

Race 4 at Mahoning, it was #7 Thechromeweknow posting .175/4.71/7.00 while winning at $16.40. Two races later, #2 Foreign showed up at .348/1.87/2.45, and that was worth $9.80 for the win, plus the $2 exacta with #5 Dexquire (.382/1.62/2.14) returned $47.80 when $15.39 would have been more than generous. Racing in Youngstown, Ohio, has concluded for the day.

Still in play at Hot Springs, Ark., are the sixth-through-ninth.

Therefore, we still can hold out hope for Fair Grounds 7, 8, 9, 10; Gulf 8, 9; Sam Houston 2, 3, 5; Oaklawn 8; Turf Paradise 8, 10. ‘Jerry, we’ve lost the fat man and we’re running lean!’
