After about two years off, it looks like we’re back in action two or three times a week on the public tennis courts here in beautiful downtown Studio City. Tennis >>>>>>> golf for the obese.
Good for the heart rate, lots of cardio-type involvement, approx. 45 mins. per hour-plus session. Singles only, which is even better than doubles for exercise. Singles > doubles >>>>>>>> golf for the obese.
As well, all muscle groups get involved, plus the brain and reflexes. Remember, unlike golf where you get to stare at the ball for forever and hit it from the tee or a stationary lie, in tennis you are often shuffling the feet or else outright running down a ball spinning furiously away from your body! Again, tennis is like boxing, and golf is just archery but with a strength-component thrown in.
Bonus is that playing here in La-La Land, we’ve encountered any number of famous people on the courts, frequently gabbing with them without having to pretend like we’re stalking them. Elle Fanning, Jill Arrington, Esai Morales, Terrell Owens, Gavin Rossdale, Pete Wentz are among the regular people who’ve resorted to playing at least once over at Beeman Park. You could look it up.
Anyway, having had the two vaxxes plus the booster plus some natural immunity and, for one of us, even an infusion of monoclonal antibodies, we feel like it’s going to be OK to get out there again, even bumping against our mid-50s and beyond. It feels good.
What does not feel good at all is how the public-pick page is doing, and the recommended races from this here Web log have been chalky too.
Fortunately today, we can say that some unannounced lower-priced win-overlay opportunities have been successful. Again, unannounced; again, lower-priced; but we figure this might break the negative spell on the announced races.
So far on Tuesday here, Mahoning 4, $11.60 winner, BestLine Premium Odds of 3.62-1. ParXXX 3, $10.40, Premium Odds of 2.87-1. Sunland 4, $11.80, Premium Odds of 3.01. Again, we are not demonstrating anything other than these win-overlay opportunities DO NOT ALWAYS LOSE, AND THAT NONCONTENDERS ARE NOT WINNING ALL THE RACES.
Admittedly, this is a low bar to clear, but it is a reminder that the truth lies somewhere between 0 and 1, with the ROI hopefully approaching anything above 0.
Penn 6 & 8, Sunland 9 and Turf Paradise 8 appear to have the most potential now. Maybe.
Meantime, get out there and play tennis. While every muscle and nerve-ending in your body might at first seem to protest vigorously or even go on strike outright, your heart will thank you. If you want to meet celebrities or even us, come on over to Beeman Park and take your shots.
