Today’s Stakes Pageantry: On the collegiate American Gridiron Throwball schedule today, it’s No. 14 Va. Poly at home to host 5-2 Duke. Ned Reldem, Esq., reports from Blacksburg of frost and overnight snow. That should not interfere with his plans for binge-drinking.

Meanwhile in New Orleans, Tulsa visits the the Teal Ripple of Tulane in a fierce battle being hailed as the Power Tul Bowl, brought to you by Black & Craftsman. And still no House Tackle Gridiron Throwball at Lawrenceville, N.J.

None on the free page, but GG 4, Suf 7, TuP 7 and WO 6 & 8 on the pay-side.

Uh-oh. Vaunted Triple Threat Horsey status accorded to longshot #5 Clearly Now in Bel 8, the Grade III Bold Ruler. Uh-oh.

Likewise #4 La Tia in Haw 7, the Ill. Princess. Ill.

Wow. Nonfavoured trio alive in DeD 9, the Lafitte Pincay Memorial. Those involved are #3 Burning Warrior, #7 Rise Up, #10 Rivers Run Deep. And this is your Colonial Penn Stakes Triple Stumper of the Night!

Yesterday’s Activity: Over at the Calder, Hold That Camera did not need one at the wire in Race 4, winning by a tad over 8 lengths at 11-1; precisely, the win mutuel was $24.80.

Hold That Camera, 8-1 on the morning line, was third on the Betting Line, Fair Odds of 4½-1, in a contentious race, and had the top LifeLiner in the field, too.

Over at the Laurel, Open the Bank ran to that billing in the ninth, going gate-to-wire at 14½-1, returning $31-even for the win.

Open the Bank, 20-1 on the morning line and fourth on the Betting Line with Fair Odds of 6-1 in a contentious race, had the top LifeLiner Speed Column score in the field.

As always, Welcome to The Home of The Runner-Up Finish, this time led by lone-touted Station Commander in the opener at Meadowlands Turfgrass. Station Commander, 8-1 on the morning line and 25-1 in real life, was the top experienced runner on the Betting Line, Fair Odds of 4½-1. As well, he qualified tops on LifeLiner Speed. Station Commander led all the way around, by daylight mostly, and almost held on before faltering in the shadow of the wire, losing by three parts of a length while defeating eight other runners in the 10-horse field.

The race winner was a first-timer who was also the public fave at 2-1; the winner’s connection line was a robust 20pc/21pc/14pc, and the backup exacta returned $82, perhaps a little light there.

Closing out your Friday with the Friday Night Lights in Tejas (Tejas! Yee-haw! Yeah-hooooo! A real Tejas barbecue!), where four races were selected four touting, eight horseys were touted and all four races came back with winners. Sadly, none of the winners paid more than $10-and-change. Cazart! Morning lines needing vital readjustment in San Antone! Yee-hawww! Yeah-hoooooo! Tejas! Riverwalk! Alamo! Taco Cabana! Yeeeeeee-hawwwwwww! Tejas! Everything’s big in Tejas! Especially the big morning lines! All hat and no value! Tejas! Tejas! Tejas! Yeah-hooooooooo! Yeeeeeeeee-hawwwwwwwww! Tejas!

Now, back to your regularly scheduled Weblog.
