Probably have shared this one before, but it’s worth revisiting at any rate.

Kent, crushproof box. Quasi-sophisticated stage of Dunhill Menthol in the infamous wide green box. Thought twice about it soon after hearing somebody say, “Shoot, boy! I can’t even begin to imagine what the British put in their fags!”

Pretty much don’t indulge anymore, but, like the Dos Equis man, when we do, it’s down to the Native American Spirit branded stickszx.

Grey lung smoke, shutting one eye against it. Fragments from literature.

Free ones: Rundown…

Saratoga Race Course 5, 12
Calder / Gulf Calder 1, Gulf 8
Del Mar Thoroughbred Club 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 10

Pay-side: Today…

Arlington 2, 3, 8, 10, 11
Ellis Park 2, 7
Golden Gate 5, 7
Louisiana 2
Monmouth 12
Remington 1, 2, 3, 6, 7
Woodbine 5, 6, 10

Today’s Stakes Pageantry: Hard for us to gauge Saratoga 9, the Grade I Forego, with any prohibition. Perhaps #8 Golddigger’s Boy can find his way into the payouts. Perhaps.

Siding with the second-choice on the morning line in AP 9, the Grade III Washington Park: #3 Mister Marti Gras.

Should be OK for #3 Ju Ju Eyebaslls in Mth 3, the Miss Woodford.

In Alb 8, the Harvest (a little early, don’t you think?), #4 Big Foot Ben can strike for the SASQUATCH!

Uh-oh. Vaunted Triple Threat Horsey status assigned to #5 Tri (!) Chocolate in Ruidoso 10, the eponymous T’bred Derby there.

Not much excitement for your Graded and added-money Saturday. Regretsz!

Yesterday’s Activity: Calder 6 had Winningisgood running to that billing. Winningisgood was 8-1 on the morning line and went off at 6-1. Winningisgood’s LifeLiner array was 85-97-99, and he pretty much ran to that, making the front just after the second-call before winning off by 2½ lengths at $14-even. No other horseys in the race qualified on LifeLiner Speed.

An 11th-hour hurrah at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, thanks to Holy Lute in Race 6. At press time, the race appeared contentious; however, the last-minute scratch of the contender U’narack changed the complexion dramatically. Nonetheless, Holy Lute remained the top choice on LifeLiner Speed. Holy Lute was 12-1 on the morning line and bet-down to 6½-1 in real life. Holy Lute ran hard every yard of the way and prevailed at $15-even.

So, $14-even, $15-even, do we hear a $16-even? Amazingly, yes! Sold to the winner of the opener at Golden Gate Fair, Nahem. Nahem was 10-1 on the morning line and 7-1 at the off. Off a 22-month layoff, Nahem went gate to wire and paid — right — $16-even.
