As always, Bugs Bunny proves way ahead of his time…

Wow. Another stunner from the legal swamplands of Fla. Why do so many weird things transpire down there? Maybe Georgy Porkie & Tot Mom KC Ant’ny can hook-up, compare notes on the proper technique, on how it feels to do what they did.

Gulfstream looks beautiful on TV, but we’ll be damned if we head out to the Sunshine (so-called) State any time soon. After all, before too long we’ll be reading about how some unarmed bantamweight, half-bright yellow-skinned wiseguy got gunned-down down there just for crossing his eyes at a mutuel teller who was sitting his ground behind the window. Ugh. Anita Bryant, she did a good job straightening out that state!

Besides, way too much humidity in Fla. Calif. still better — better hair days, better overall physical fitness, better-looking women. We prefer to perish in an earthquake (or even a SHARKNADO!) than at the stubby fingers of an itchy-trigger tub o’ lard like Georgy Porkie in Fla. Hope the border patrol keeps that Fla. tub o’ lard Georgie Porkie out of Calif. If they see that tub o’ lard Georgy Porkie approaching, trying to get into the GOLDEN (true!) State, they can shoot him on sight! Bang! Bang! Fire! Let’s not call 911. Let&srquo;s watch him bleed-out instead. He’ll bleed out lard.

Free ones: Rundown…

Belmont 9
Calder / Gulf Crc 5, 6, 7, 8; GP 3
BFHollyPark 1, 5, 6, 11

Pay-side: Today…

Arlington 1, 6, 7, 8

Monmouth 7, 8, 9, 10
Woodbine 2, 4, 6, 10

Today’s Stakes Pageantry: Hol 5 on the free page; Mth 10 & WO 6 on the pay-side.

Shooting for a mild upset in WO 8, the Ont. Damsel, via #1 Sarah Her Highness.

Maybe #9 Red Minstrel in ArP 6, the Futurity.

Wild Default/Bonkers Box scenario in the eighth there, the Colo. Dby. The lucky pairing involves #3 Dr. Watson, #7 Bourbon Pride. Rocky Mountain High!

Seems too strong in Beu 7 for #1 Deniro’s Saint. At least Jay-Z won’t throw any money at this one!

Similar to that one is #4 Stopshoppingdebbie in EmD 7, the Kent (in a protective crushproof box!).

Actually a nonfavored Default Exacta Box situation developing in PID 5, the Northern Fling. #2 Lotta Lovin & #6 Prize Winner are the duo.

Yesterday’s Activity: As always, Welcome to The Home of The Runner-Up Finish. In the seventh at Belmont, it was Joha running to his LifeLiner array of 99-99-96 in leading all the way around, save the the last 330 ft., the distance from home plate to the foul poles at most major-league ballparks. Joha was 15-1 on the morning line and 13-1 on the toteboard, losing to a rally-type LifeLiner qualifier. The insurance exacta was 5-1 over 13-1 for $131 (for $2). Additionally, the third and fourth spots also went to LifeLiner Speed contenders: $692 for the $2 trifecta, $1,540 for the $2 super-duper.

BFHollyPark 2 had E Equalsmcsquared, 8-1 on the morning line and 15-1 at the off, rallying furiously to miss by just three parts of a length. The winner was the 3-5 fave, top of the LifeLiner Speed. The insurance exacta, odds-on on top of 15-1, was $25.20 (for $2).

Race 5 at Woodbine had top-touted Sweet City Song, 20-1 on the morning line and 14-1 at the off, plus status as one of those vaunted Triple Threat Horseys (!), just could not get by in finishing second by a dirty neck. The winner was the 2-1 fave, and a LifeLiner qualifier, so the saver was a gettable $73 in a field of 11. As well, the third- and fourth-place finishers were OK on LifeLiner Speed: $390 for the $2 triactor, $1,174 for the $1 super-duper.

Bright spot on the day was at Arlington, the 11th. Top-touted Pataky Kid, 10-1 on the morning line but bet-down to 6-1, rallied best (LifeLiner: 69-69-87), paying $15.40. Race was contentious, and the lukewarm 2½-1 public fave was last, and not a LifeLiner Speed contender. However, the other two spots in the trifecta were accounted for by LifeLiner qualifiers: $69 for the exacta, $252 for the $1 trifecta.

Also, Gold Dust Lady ($15.30) in the fourth at Woodbine.

So often looks lucrative at New Kent, Va. Rarely results in triumph. Damn you, Colonial! We’re gonna shoot you and then watch you bleed-out! Bang! Bang! Fire! We&rsqu;re gonna make you die just because we don’t like the way you look!

TM was exact size & weight of middleweight boxin Champ. No dog in this fight. Just bought Calif. Organic Strawberries & wonderin what to do with them????? Did Ellis get enough Hender sonians to get all the rocks picked up off the racetrack? At least they tried adding dirt instead of scraping it away from the rail {KEE}. Some come from behinders maybe??

You’re all right, HoneyBunnie. You’re all right. In the fullness of time, we shall find out how it turns out for Geo. Porkie. And Tot Mom. Also, doesn’t Dexter the Molexter take place in Fla.? Eileen Wuornos? Fla. & Tex. — hoo boy, special places in ’murrika! We shall confine our travels to States like Iowa and Maine, maybe Louisiana. They will always have tolerance in the southern parts of Louisiana for the simple reason that that is where New Orleans is. New Orleans #1 always, a true gumbo pot.

Strawberries! If you are a hipster, make some preserves!

If you are a slacker, grasp them delicately at the hull, rinse, then bite.

You can tell which we prefer. No need to overthink them!

  2. KGreen says:

I’mma Slacker Slacker, Slacker!!! Amen La., DED & EVD—been there been there! Fell in love at DED one night romance tho. Even, Blue Ribbon Downs O.K. or is that Okla. The’ll race anything there. A 55 yr old Mexican takin on all comers in the 50 YD dash. Dressed in work clothing and 3 day old beard left track after 3 races with about 5 dimes in pocket, walkin down the road. What I notices were his shoes. Nice pair of NIKES. He won each contest by less than a length. Cowboys cannot run.

JEFFERSON DOWNS, Kenner, La. Gateway track to four years of Thoroughbred interest at Fair Grounds. Louie Roussel 3d! Risen Star! Serendipity. Perfect timing.

How can a guy go to Duke or Emory and say he minored in handicapping? Where are the racetracks in Durham or Peachtree?

I need more racetrack stories like these. Mexicans now are tubbie, they say. Speedy Gonzalez got fat on instant noodles, shunning the tortillas and beans that made him a lean, mean, zippy rodent machine in the first place. ¡Andale, andale!

The runner 5″ 8″ tall, approx. 180, a stocky built fella with shorter legs than a sprinter would sport. Believe me, thought anyone could compete, even me. 2 good 2 B true, came into decision making so I leave it to “25 & Under YO’s”, single white males who’s testosterone over evaluates their billfolds + as always, sidebets A carnival looking barker handled that action, coulda promoted the dancing girls in SAMSONS CARNIVALE. Later was seen walking down road with his compadre, arm in arm, “Speedy Gonzalez”. Can see it clearly now.
An interesting place BLUE RIBBON. CALI-BERRIES–the BEST.
The boss made a flattened Angel Food in a baking pan. After cutting & slightly sweetened with honey & water mixture, mixed Cool Whip with berries. spread it on cake & rolled it into a log, dusted with Confectioners sugar, cooled , sliced & INHALED!!
HARVEY—-The mixed breed terrier, who tried his best to behave, & eventually became a best friend. Is near his end. cancerous tumor, but time is near& damned if you do and damned if you don’t. Tramadol not working anymore, Can’t make self take him to VEt for final time, rather VET come to house, makes one feel Nazi. Harder as one gets older. Guess I’ll start digging. SAD<SAD<SAD. Always kept a Positive attitude even being praised or scolded.

The Island sound better & better. Just an Island with Sat.

    • Shoutoute says:

Sorry about HARVEY. There is no judgment, only sadness. There is something comforting about being able to cross the rainbow bridge in familiar surroundings; the animal spirit stays closer to home.

When the time comes for the one-eyed pug to draw her final snuffly breath, I hope it will be here.

Thank you, and strength to you and “the Boss” during this time of transition. A scritch for old Harvey, too.

      Regrets…
