On Thursday, it was the Turfway meet — on its Opening Night, no less; you can’t get much earlier in the meet than that, eh?! — that came through big.<\/p>\n
Indeed, there were nine races on the first card of the winter 2014-2015 meet, and eight of those were won by horses paying better than $10 up top; even wilder, there were five winners returning $30 or more. Yow!<\/p>\n
On the touting side here, Ridge Dance ($14.20) in Race 1 and sole-selected Slavic Princess ($30.40) in Race 4 did the business. Good job!<\/p>\n
Gulf Proper opens Saturday, and the just-mentioned Tampa and Turfway continue to sort things out. The longshot win mutuels should continue apace. Have at ’em!<\/p>\n
