Brink of War made a bold move on the outside to draw level in deep stretch before drawing off to win by 2 lengths at the lovely mutuel of $80.80. Eighty-eighty is better than 20\/20, better than 50\/50. Let’s hear it for 80\/80!<\/p>\n Two races later there, two horseys were touted, including the top-touted Potomac River. At least Potomac River was third-choice on the Betting Line, Fair Odds of 5-1, and conventional V6 value-seekers could make the case for him on that score alone. <\/p>\n But wait, it gets better. Potomac River also has a qualifying LifeLiner Speed Column number, and at 30-1 on the morning line (a 30-1 morning-line horsey, automatic throwout, right?!), he looks like a must-play. <\/p>\n The bell rings, Potomac River is sent off at 45-1. He has an eventful early trip, but not to worry: his complete LifeLiner array of 60-67-85 says that he can handle falling behind before unleashing a stout late-run.<\/p>\n And that’s what he does. He pulls a Brink of War-type rally on the wide side before winning off by the same 2 lengths as that earlier upsetter. Result: $93.40 to win.
