Likewise the longshot #12 Conniption Fit in the sixth. Straight-up single to #9 Stamp Queen in the seventh.

Yesterday’s Activity: What else but another King of the NetCapper Bulliesz special, this time at the Hawthorne? In it, Fourth (!) Bonkersmate Kera’s Kitten, 8-1 on the morning line and 14-1 in real life, went gate-to-wire to pay $30.20 for the win. Kera’s Kitten was at the dead bottom of the Betting Line in a highly contentious race, but with a saving LifeLiner Speed Column mark of 83. The 2-1 fave ran second and completed a gettable $130 exacta, for $2.

Nothing good at Keeneland. Sorry, Kentucky!

Running with honour in a close second-place finish was 15-1 All for Peace, sole tout in Laurel 10. All for Peace rallied to her LifeLiner array of 73-77-88, and got up for the place-spot while being beaten just three parts of a length.

Likewise, a similar Home of The Runner-Up Finish effort from lone-touted Art Design in Retama 3. Art Design was next-to-last on the Betting Line but in with a top 99 LifeLiner Speed Column score, the only 80-plus qualifier in the field. Art Design was 8-1 on the morning line and 26-1 when the bell rang. Art Design ran hard all the way around but could not keep up with the winner at the wire, losing by 1 length.

That was also the story for 20-1 Bonkersmate Swanlinbar in the opener at Remington. First-time starter Swanlinbar was 8-1 on the morning line and had a connection line of 11pc/13pc/43pc.

Now, the best for last. That would be SA 8, and the top-touted Champagneandcaviar, provider of a Domperignonandbeluga effort. A wide-open race, obviously, with the Betting Line starting at 5-1 for the ‘A’ Horse and 6-1 for the ‘B’ Horse and no others receiving Fair Odds.

Champagneandcaviar was sixth of 11 on the Betting Line but with a squeaking-by 81 in LifeLiner Speed and a second-best 83 in LifeLiner Pace.

Champagneandcaviar ran mostly to that characterization, sitting tight to the pace before coming alive in the lane to hold on by half a length.

Champagneandcaviar returned $116-even to win; her morning-line odds were 20-1.

First Bonkersmate Somethingabouther, 8-1 on both the morning line and on the toteboard, ran third. Second Bonkersmate Scooter Bird, 27-1 actual odds from a morning line of 15-1, ran fourth. The interloping runner-up was not a LifeLiner qualifier, however, and the exotics remained dead to us. Thanks a lot, Winning Rhythm! Thanks a lot!

Well, friends, hope you had the winner, anyway.

WMF Report:

Early
Calder 6f
Mountain 5½f
Northlands 6f
PennNat 6f
Keystone 6f
Santa Anita 6f
Suffolk 6f
Thistle 6f
Zia 1m

Nocturnal Submission: Sifting through the wreckage…

Thank you.
