Yesterday’s Activity<\/strong>: Bonkersmate Respectful Ed, 12-1 on the original morning line in a race washed off the turf. Respectful Ed paid $9.80 to win as the eighth of eight (dead last!) on the Betting Line, but with a qualifying 96 (a live first!) on the LifeLiner. <\/p>\n

Honourable mention in the last at Remington to Bonkersmate Centripetal Force, 20-1 on the morning line and sent away at a mere 50¢ under 50-1 (half a hundred!) in actuality; that is, at 49.50-1. The chart says that the 49-1 Centripetal Force led inside the furlong grounds before being outfinished, beaten only a half a length for the whole ballgame. Centripetal Force ended up third and still paid only $14.80 to show. No good, Chollie, no good. <\/p>\n

Which brings us back to the daytime and the track of Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Ky. The opener turned out good, with lone-touted Bay Head running to that billing and winning at $23.40 straight. Bay Head was 10-1 on the morning line and dismissed on the Betting Line; however, the LifeLiner on her was OK (80-flat, third-best in the 12-horse field). <\/p>\n

In the seventh there, First Bonkersmate Tell All You Know was defeated, but with dignity. At 8-1 on the morning line and 20¢ shy of 20-1 on the toteboard, Tell All You Know, like Centripetal Force in the Remington finale, made the lead with a furlong to go only to be run down at the wire by half a length. At least Tell All You Know managed to finish second.<\/p>\n

The race after that, it was top-touted Janis’s Joy, second-choice on the Betting Line (5-1 Fair Odds) and second-choice on LifeLiner Speed (91, also second-best in the 11-horse field). Janis’s Joy was 15-1 on the morning line but went off at better than twice that: 33-1. She ran tight to her LifeLiner array (89-99-99) and scored gate-to-wire by a desperate nose at the finish. The win mutuel was $69-even. The race’s other tout, the Bonkersmate Terfaashah, ran third at 16-1, yielding another dreaded first-third skip exacta. However, the horse between them, the 3-1 public second-choice, was OK on LifeLiner, and the top exotics were live: $422 for the exacta, $4,904 for the trifecta. All prices quoted were for $2.<\/p>\n
