Crispy crittersz!<\/p>\n
Big, bracelet-sized onions rings always are the best. Dunkin’ Donuts-sized onion rings. Batter is a no-no. Not even beer-batter. The batter too quickly gets soggy. Ugh. Dredge in a little flour, maybe a little beaten egg, then the crispy, fine breadcrumbs on top. That is an onion ring that will explode in your mouth. Between the deep-fried crunch of the breadcrumbs and the natural juiciness of the tender onion beneath…nummie.<\/p>\n
Please, no batter. Batter-dipped onion rings always end up a soggy mess, more coating than onion. Simple flour-dusted fried onions are OK, but they are a different beast altogether. Best are oversized, bracelet-style, Dunkin’ Donuts-type onion rings with a crispy, crunchy coating that does not interfere but rather complements the taste of onion itself.
