Nat\u2019l Sweater Day now, and while you don\u2019t really need this kind of cable-knit bulkiness for sunny Southern California even in the winter, it\u2019s a different story in the tony-but-chilly resort town of Aspen, Colo., during the apr\u00e8s-ski <\/em>scene this time of year.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s an old saying about how you \u2018learn to ski in the summer\u2019. Well, we made our first attempt on the slopes just about a year ago, at the advanced age of 54, and we\u2019re going back there tomorrow for a week, so we shall see if we have gotten any better at skiing after 51 weeks of not having done it: a spring, a summer, an autumn & half a winter of uninvolved instruction. So, let\u2019s schuss! (Um, not really! It will be the opposite of that, of course, much slower & much more sinuous!)<\/p>\n
