It was loud and it was exciting; it felt like a full house. All the senses were engaged, especially the olfactory one. When you stay within the confines of two or three relatively small spaces for more than a year, your nose kind of switches off, and not because you\u2019ve contracted the virus. With the mask off for eating and drinking, the old memories come flooding back \u2014 beer spilled on concrete, glorified Vienna sausages on Wonder<sup>\u00ae&nbsp;<\/sup>bread wafting out from the concessions, the unmistakable stench of a men\u2019s room, etc.<\/p>\n<p>The game itself was a hang-cliffer. Your La-La Land Los Doyers looked done and dusted through the first six innings. Walker Buehler was the victim of three Mariner homers. The home team could manage just a Muncy blast. Mookie was called out on strikes despite the third of those being obviously not a strike. Video is exposing all these lapses in judgment from shaky umpires, just like it is for other shaky officials.<\/p>\n<p>Then the Dodgers woke up. Seager, having seen his older brother mash a big homer earlier in the game, swung at the first pitch with two out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh and the batted ball dropped in for a two-run single. That brought it to 4-3.<\/p>\n<p>A couple of Dodgers reached base in the bottom of the eighth, and then the moment of glory came, as captured in today\u2019s video lede. Jansen pitched an easy ninth to record a save in a 6-4 Dodger win.<\/p>\n<p>One day you will do something and it will be the last time you do it; same goes for people. There will be a last time you speak, hug, weep, laugh, see them. You don\u2019t always despair that something might be the last time, but the last 15 months or so have made more of us more aware of the possibility of the end of something. So the game last night, yes, exciting, but also reassuring; we got to do it again. It was not the last time, back in 2019, thank goodness. Last night will not be the last time, hopefully, either; it appears that it won\u2019t be, the way the world is turning, thankfully. The Hollywood Bowl will reopen soon, and that will be another thing that comes back to us, another attachment to reattach.
