Earthquakes, floods, infernos, insufferable hipsters and know-it-all poseurs are still probably a better deal than, say, being subject to the extrajudicial drug murders in Pilipinas or the choking smog of Delhi or the suppression of free speech over the airwaves in Lexington, Ky., or in the American Gridiron Throwball stadiums in Tuscaloosa, Ala.<\/p>\n

N.B. One thing we can all agree on: Jeopardy Jm. Holzhauer plays the game the proper way. The best of the best make it look effortless and graceful, just like any other top performer in any other competition. It\u2019s the players who look like they are having a seizure at the podium that are hard to watch, even if they are talented and providing quality responses. You know, the ones who never smile or who handle the buzzer\/signaling button\/lockout device like it\u2019s a warclub and they are going to squeeze the life out of it. You gotta do it with style, you have to be cool. Arthur Chu was cool, Jeopardy Jason is cool, and Bradford Rutter might be the coolest of them all. Still, the one who came before them, the one who was the coolest player of all time, in our estimation, the one who made the most aesthetic sense to us, was none other than the great Bob Verini. Jm. Holzhauer, Arthur Chu, Jeopardy Jason, Bradford Rutter, Bob Verini \u2014 we can all learn from their calm, cool and graceful play. On the other hoof, that one contestant on last night, the one at the opposite end of the podium from Jeopardy Jm., that is a contestant you do not want to emulate: stiff, on the verge of seizure, collapse and asphyxiation, scowling the whole time. If you want to succeed on the Jeopardy! television programme, take your instruction from the cool players, not the desperation maniacs. Thank you!<\/p>\n
