Poetry Day&#8230; <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>We know you have read all the great poets and some of the minor ones too. If you like a cool, urban vibe to your poetry, check out the collected works of one Mistah Paul Blackburn. Since we were born in New York City (Manhattan, too! Take that, Don Sr.!) in the late 1960s, we were preternaturally attracted to Blackburn&rsquo;s poetry; we felt like we were there, even if we did not exist! Again, it&rsquo;s cool, it&rsquo;s urban and it&rsquo;s eminently accessible. How do we know? Well, one of his memorable lines is, &lsquo;Bigod, I must have been full of [expletive]&#8230;&rsquo; That&rsquo;s one self-aware wordsmith! Thank you, Paul Blackburn.<\/p>\n<p>As well, a Boys In The Back Room original joint now&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>Of an evening to come<br \/>\nYou shall ask me once more<br \/>\n&lsquo;Who do you like&rsquo;?<br \/>\nAnd together again<br \/>\nWe will enjoy anew<br \/>\nThe pastime that found us<br \/>\nInseparable&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Poems are good; poetry is even better. Everyone agrees. Or rather, most reasonable persons come to this conclusion. Even numbers-heavy rationalist libertariats such as Nassim Nicholas Taleb &#038; Russell Roberts of Stanford University&rsquo;s Hoover Institution concur that poetry is good. All the American presidents had poets recite something pretty at their inaugurations. But not the current president. What say yourself? Does poetry have a place in the Ralph Club with the Boofin&rsquo; Renate Alumnius? Be a safe &#038; sane person and sit down to read some poetry today; it will help yourself out, much like reading scripture or any other religious text tends to help the people out. Again, that&rsquo;s the product called &lsquo;poetry&rsquo; &mdash; read yourself some out loud soon. It&rsquo;s not all about the hair &#038; the tan, you know. Remember, have some poetry in your life.
